First of all, I think you speak very well for someone whose second language is English! : )

However I am about to pop your generalization that everyone here is looking for a date. I happen to be here seeking a submissive for a D/s relationship. And, because I have this thing about really direct, human contact I am not an "online dater."

It would be nice if people could walk up to each other in the vanilla world and ask them face-to-face if they are into this Lifestyle when first meeting them. But life doesn't recognize that as being an acceptable move.

I am not dumb. I can and do socialize without any problem...both in the vanilla world and the BDSM world.
So the next time you wish to lump people together in one mass, please leave me out.

Thank you! : )

This is basically a dating site which is also usefull as a "meeting point" for people sharing a common interest in bdsm. But....why a person use such a site like this to date people instead of date him/her "on the street"? There are lots of answers to this question depending on the person, but for most of them applies "because he/she is too dumb that can't even socialize.

It took awhile for me to understand the concept of "the other side" and "this side" of CM.
I view it as two different opportunities to "the whole" of CM, but that's fine if others want to label it as such.

I find it interesting this...hostile, almost racist attitude people have for one side vs the other. One side wouldn't DARE post something on the message boards, while another wouldn't DARE to waste their time in a chat room.
Are some people looking for quick, hookup sex in the chat rooms. Sure! But they do here too!
I don't know about the money part "over there" but it's obvious that some people are looking for it on the message boards.
There's joke telling, and news item chats, and people looking for matches in chat rooms as there are on these boards.

As for people "not behaving well there or not at all," there's no more "weeping and gnashing of teeth over there than here...and in some cases there's more over here! I've encountered "asshats" on "both sides," but I've also chatted with some really nice people on both as well. : )

(Thank you)

I think the other side of CM is a lot like a meat market with both sides seeking to hook up and get maximum sex/money with minimum time and investment. I don't expect people to behave well there... or to behave at all actually.

I don't look at CollarMe as a dating site.
I look at it as a kinky social network site.

You are assuming that people here don't meet people in real life.
I actually meet many people in real life and on vanilla sites like fb and tagged that into the lifestyle, kink, and other various things outside of the BDSM real that I enjoy.

I think to not only generalize about people who use this site but to insult them by calling them dumb is ironic since YOU are on this site.

THIS!!
Plus in my opinion, a person is MUCH more than answers to some preconceived checklist of things... which is why my profile reads as it does.

....I've never walked up to anybody in a real life interaction and needed to know their age, weight, gender, BDSM role, etc to say that I liked their pair of shoes and where did they get them.

...A profile is really just a person's view (or fantasy) of themselves.

...Plus, I'm kind of an old fashioned chick. I much prefer getting to know people over time, rather than be handed that person's shortcut (profile) for making their acquaintance.

The only thing I would be interested in are pictures to put with the names. But then again I do scrapbook as a hobby and I love photography. Other then that I do not care about what anyone's kink is.

wiremen -> RE: Do you read profiles? (1/24/2013 1:49:11 PM)

Am I alone in thinking that really what is there to say about kink in conversation? Do you talk about technique? Reminis?Pontificate? Seek to educate others? No none of the above! Kink is something deeply personal to you and your partner. It is something that facilitates a better orgasm, excites lust, satisfies frenzied craving. Why on earth bang on about it? unless of course you can write the type of erotic fiction that actually makes others wet with pre cum!!!
Making a connection on here is a GAMBLE! You can be beguiled by the biggest load of lies in christendom. You can spend a fortune setting up a meet only to be shitfaced. But along with this, you can sometimes connect with the most articulate, forthright and verbally sensual being.
That is why the scatter gun technique is as good as any other. What I write is sincere. It is not contrived subterfuge, in fact it is painfully honest. I would reveal myself like this to anyone, and for anyone, read EVERYONE!

Oh good I am not the only one that thought that.

That is no not true.
I am always OPEN and willing to discuss different types of fetish play with people.
From technique, to safety precautions, to why I enjoy it.
Hell, I do THAT all the time on the forums. Lol
And in real life.

What is deeply personal to me and MY partner(s) is our relationship as a whole not the kink we happen to share.

What is more personal to US than kink discussions are the deep discussions we have about other topics such as spirituality, family, personal truths, and debates about life and the world around us
Now THOSE are personal.

I honesty thought that perhaps there was another message board on this site whenever I heard that.

OnlyForOlder -> RE: Do you read profiles? (11/15/2013 10:27:15 AM)

Personally I'm a prolific profile reader. I'll read most profiles I see just out of curiosity. I love reading people's descriptions of what exactly the lifestyle means to them as an individual, and love laughing at the attempts of scammers!

Oh and I would also like to point out that I have learnt the value of having a well written profile! If you're honest, open, detailed, and realistic you will have a lot more success.
