TheHeretic -> How Democrats do Democracy (9/6/2012 9:28:23 PM)

This is one of the more shameless things I've ever seen.

(pardon the ad, but well worth seeing, and hearing, for yourself)

Voice vote - do it again - do it again - just fucking do it the way we wanted to begin with, regardless of the vote.

Seems to me that not one delegate believed that since the chair did not receive a single complaint.

Lucylastic -> RE: How Democrats do Democracy (9/7/2012 5:14:45 AM)

the whole shebang was a bloody disgrace...
Needless to say, many in the dem party are not "weal Cwistians" *being of other faiths* why would they vote to make the cwistian god, their platform, where is the freedom of religion? or from religion?
the squawking is pathetic.
The wepublican cwistians, dare NOT speak out... the democwat ones DID

tweakabelle -> RE: How Democrats do Democracy (9/7/2012 5:41:39 AM)

Why the lack of democracy here? Simple. In the US it seems no one is allowed to oppose the Zionist agenda.

Even as AIPAC and it's bought and paid-for puppets try to manipulate the US into another insane war on Israel's behalf in Iran ........ a war that neither the American people nor the Israeli people, nor any one else wants.

Is there anyone left in the US who puts US interests ahead of its "ungrateful ally's" interests?

MrRodgers -> RE: How Democrats do Democracy (9/7/2012 5:47:48 AM)

Just another ridiculous post without which...we could have saved a little oil.

First, democracy as defined (or our constitution) makes no mention of something called political parties. So the OP is a ruse from the start.

Second, which is a worse example of party power, a disagreement over how the platform treats Israel or the repubs making damn sure Ron Paul and his followers are wasting their time because he and they...will go absolutely nowhere ?

I'll take the former anytime and every time.

Of course you would, you like backing the loser.

No rob, people said BEFORE the convention that it looked like a floor fight might ensue. Silencing duly elected delegates and preventing a man with a significant percentage of votes from ever speaking curtailed that floor fight. Everybody gets that ... well almost.

And you know this how?

I guess this is just another example of Democratic Centralism. [8|]

Well that's one way to get the vote to go the way you want. [8D]

Significant? Really? Ron Paul is a fringe nominee, always has been, always will be. I am however amused by the left defending him now, after they completely trashed him in March... Remember his "racism"?

Paul is a member of the same fringe as Nader... The only people who care about his opinions, are his minuscule amount of believers, and the opposition hoping he'll make waves in the GOP because Obama needs all the help he can get.

Jon Stewart wasn't pleased either:

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/jon-stewart-lauds-bill-clintons-amazing-display-of-actually-saying-stuff/

...Before getting to last night’s speeches, Stewart addressed the controversy over the Democratic platform omitting language about God and Jerusalem, saying that God isn’t so petty that he immediately “freaks out” if you don’t mention him. Naturally, the Democrats stood by their platform 100 percent… except for when they did a complete 180 yesterday. Stewart found it particularly ridiculous that despite the fact that the vote looked “dead-even” from the delegates, the motion passed anyway.

Why is the religious vote always such a doppelganger for so many?

Why can't you just look past it?

You don't believe? Vote against it?

Believe....vote for it.

Done.

LookieNoNookie -> RE: How Democrats do Democracy (9/7/2012 3:16:40 PM)

(Pretty damned simple shit if you ask me).

(Nobody ever does though....ask me that is....I actually have the answers).

tazzygirl -> RE: How Democrats do Democracy (9/7/2012 3:51:56 PM)

Religion has no place in government.

As an outsider to the US system, that was an absolute disgrace. The "No" vote clearly won on every occassion.

So.....disregard.

(Pretty simple shit).

Delete...move forward.

Doesn't get much simpler than that.

Of course, forgive me....I use my brain....I don't presume I have to take everything someone tells me as Gospel.

Yeah...well....that's the way it (can) work(s).
