ORIGINAL: TheHeretic I've run across a few pundits making the "Romney in a landslide," prediction, Michael. I saw one today claiming that the Carter/Reagan race of '80 was roughly where we are today, at this point. I don't know. Carter didn't have an elephant in the room, to play with in October. I have made that comparison, too and I think the "feeling" is close to that but, I think that the election results won't be the same. I talk to employees every day in many different industries - some of them that have voted democratic all their lives - that are gnashing their teeth and realizing that they may have to "bite the bullet" and vote for the guy that might be able to help the economy instead of the one that's proven that he can't. I personally know people that have told me: "This time, you might be right". Carter had a lot of "baggage" that he brought into that election and one of the things was that he throttled Ford on the economy and did nothing to improve it. Look up the term "misery index". It was a term that Carter invented in '76 that Reagan successfully used against him in '80. Peace and comfort, Michael
