There is a young lady, I first got to know via the other side. We've been in contact for quite a few months now and she is trying to work out, coming here to visit. A few of the things we've discussed when she comes, my teaching her to make my super secret praline recipe, her wanting to help me organize...(I wish her luck with that..), watching movies, going hiking, helping her get over her fear of horses......not one thing involves anything to do with punishing. Granted, when I make pralines I have wooden spoons and wicked rubber spatulas at hand but still.

It does seem like a travesty, doesn't it? Not so much that they're calling themselves by "wrong" terms, but that they're taking a relationship that is built on trust and loyalty, and spinning it out into cheap exploitation.

Maybe it's because I am a scientist first, all other facets of my personality second, but I don't understand this type of dynamic or mindset (in the vanilla world or BDSM). I ask questions about everything that interests me, confuses me, or even just catches my attention. Questions are essential to communication and understanding, and communication and understanding are essential to relationships functioning well. In dynamics that have been around for a long time, I can see how some power exchange couples could put aside questions or have only certain times when they're allowed; those people have amassed a lot of trust and understanding over the years they've been together, so questions may not be necessary for them to know what the other is thinking or to trust the other's judgment. But I don't think that applies so well to a relationship that's only existed for a month, and by the OP's description, seems to revolve around physical activities.

aleneb: To be fair, you did specify "personal physical questions" so I don't want to assume that means "all questions"--if he's just quirky about questions regarding his body, ok, I can see that. But if it's more than that, you might want to rethink things a bit. If he's expecting you to blindly trust him in all things because he's a d-type and you're an s-type...that can be a dangerous road to travel.

RUN AWAY AND FAST!!!...Questions should be asked FIRST and FOREMOST. This is very different from "submitting" to what you have mutually agreed to. The groundwork you lay in the beginning will decide how you get treated long-term. JMO
