I use Yahoo on an almost daily basis. My YIM has absolutely nothing to connect it with who I am in real life. If we have pming for a week, and I think you might be worth it, I might give it out.

I've met a number of people from the site, mostly as friends, and I think it helped a lot that I'd gotten to e-know them a bit from the message boards first.

The one person I've met and played with was the exception that proves the rule. He sent me an intelligent message--including his agreement with me on serial comma use, a cause close to my editor's heart--and we messaged and IMed and talked for months before he came for a fantastic visit.
