I like a little bit of it in a salsa. Unfortunately most cooks sem to feel the heed to DRENCH stuff in it.

I LOVE cilantro.

Picture a burrito stuffed with tofu (or eggs, I suppose), black beans, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and a fabulous cilantro paste.

Cilantro sprinkled on chili. It wouldn't be the same without it. Or a pasta salad.

Big hunks of it are a little hard to take, but a little bit goes a long way for me.

Yes!!! With the tofu, and Daiya Cheddar "cheese"! That sounds awesome! I like Cilantro in small doses but I love those doses a lot. I had some today chopped up with some mango, tomato, shallot, and pineapple, on a veggie burger. It was really good. I like the way described it as "brightness." I get that totally.

Coriander is so yummy... not even my guinea pig would eat cilantro when I bought it by mistake.

Wow...I go through 12 to 14 bunches a week for the bunnies, I use that and sage and mint to dice up in their hay, and they love cilantro that most. Thank god it's only .97 cents usually for a bunch.

I grabbed what I THOUGHT was flat leaf parsely... Pansy was APPALLED.

I'm such a foodie, how could I NOT try to acquire the taste? Hence, 'brightness'. It needs to be a background flavour, though.

It's one of those things I have TRIED to like, due to a certain quasi family member using it in her 'special' home made salsa. But I just can't stand it.

Vile weed.

It can be easily overdone, most especially when fresh and in salsa. Himself said so, and he's the MAN.

Most herbs and spices can be overdone, but cilantro is one I am super careful with not overdoing. It's like parsley that way, at least to me, too much is serious overkill.

Q: What's the difference between parsley and pussy.

A: Nobody eats parsley.

Kaliko, I wasn't aware it was commonly used on chili. Have you ever done it, and if so, how much might you add? I ask as I've heard many complain about the overuse of it ruining dishes, and I know some are not cilantro friendly.

Dang, Aynne, it's sounds like you're bunnies are awfully well-loved and well-fed. Lucky them! How nice to see someone who knows and cares enough about their dietary needs and tastes and makes a good effort to meet them. Good for you!

It tastes like a cool soap to me.

I totally agree with this! Even the mere smell of it makes me want to vomit.

Vile weed.

Ha!!

That's what the Mister said about basil, of all things (minus the vile part). We were at a grocery store and I held a bunch up to my nose and inhaled deeply, then held it to his nose and said "Mmmm, smell this". I had no idea he had never smelled basil before. He jumped back and said "That's a WEED!"

I told him he had just insulted my entire Italian heritage. Now, I do still cook with basil, but he always teases me by calling it a weed.

Cilantro really is a love-it-or-hate-it herb.

I'm guessing you're not in the love-it group?

I have a friend who told me this--he said that some people have that genetic disposition to hate it... he also says it tastes like soap! I love it--I've eaten it fresh and raw. yum.

same texture as fresh parsley, but sweeter to me with a sharp tang. Especially good in dim sum dumplings.

I'm in the like it camp, there are some dishes
I can't imagine without it or that I think are
really boosted by it. It's good for you to as
it's full of antioxidants. Parsley is also full
of good stuff so eat your parsley or juice it.

I love cilantro on scrambled eggs. It gives the eggs a little kick, something to play up the flavor of scrambled eggs.

well yeah...ketchup works most times but sometimes just for something different, cilantro is good.

Oh and there's this little authentic Mexican place Master and I have been to a few times, make the best soft tacos I've ever had and it was soooo simple. Their best is just simple pork belly, fried in a very much used cast iron pan, then thrown together with a little cilantro and homemade soft taco shells while you wait. Yeah, they take forever to serve them to you but the wait is worth it to me....watching them make the taco shells and the tacos are like $2 a piece! That is like the best lunch buy ever!

double yuck. The taste of it makes my body freak out, almost to the point of a panic attack.

We got a new recipe that included it in the recipe, optional. I have never been happier to be the manager, just because I could say that shit aint coming into my kitchen.
