I am in the nasty, evil weed fraction. For me, too, it tastes of soap.

the leaf is also widely used in curries too Hibbie. friends of mine from pakistan have a takeaway that my ex worked for, as well as myself. at around 10pm we, as a staff team, would eat, but not what they sell through the shop. one of the brothers would cook especially for us which was great as i'd get to watch just how the authentic food was made. i'd never used fresh coriander before then, but totally hooked now as they used it in alot of their dishes.

i also love lime, and coriander leaf chicken........uummmmmmm not had that for ages. great with basmati rice, black eye beans, and sour cream.

~shudder~

I grew up learning how to be a good guest as well as a good hostess, and I graciously ate a lot of meals that reeeeeely were nasty. Now that I'm an adult I try to avoid those kinds of experiences!!

Coriander is so yummy... not even my guinea pig would eat cilantro when I bought it by mistake.

Wow...I go through 12 to 14 bunches a week for the bunnies, I use that and sage and mint to dice up in their hay, and they love cilantro that most. Thank god it's only .97 cents usually for a bunch.

Dang, Aynne, it's sounds like you're bunnies are awfully well-loved and well-fed. Lucky them! How nice to see someone who knows and cares enough about their dietary needs and tastes and makes a good effort to meet them. Good for you!

Thanks Dusky <3 Ask Hibbie though, bunnies are like piggies, they are wierd and have odd little dietary quirks so it took a lot of googling and advice from people (one of them being Hibbie!) to figure it out eventually!

Like it, but don't love it. I'll use it in certain recipes occasionally.

It tastes like a cool soap to me.

I totally agree with this! Even the mere smell of it makes me want to vomit.

Cool soap?  You have GOT to be kidding!  It tastes like dirty dishwaster to me.  Well, I guess the dishwater has some soap in it.

Funny thing - if you don't like it, it tastes like soap.... I've said to a random stranger at a buffet, "Can't eat that.  The cilantro tastes like dirty dishwater."  He said, "I can't believe you said that.  That's what it tastes like to me, too.  I thought I was weird."

You're welcome Aynne. I so admire people who make an honest effort to meet their critters needs. Just out of curiosity, do you ever offer them wild plants to eat, such as mallow, lambs quarters, garlic mustard, plaintain, dandelion, alfalfa, etc., that sort of stuff? Let me take a peek at your profile to see what state you're in, and what you may have growing there.

You're in Maine, lucky you. Maine has oodles and oodles of wonderful wild plants rabbits love, and that are safe for them.

I'm using cilantro in a new way this weekend - mixed up with some quinoa and beans. And I thought of this thread when I was buying it. You've all pervaded my grocery store time. Grocery shopping is "me" time, dammit! Get out of my head!

Well, yes, definitely dishwasher, but to me it tastes like COLD dirty dishwater.

Eww!
