I think break ups are always difficult, especially depending on how intertwined (physically, emotionally, psychologically) a couple has become. However, it has been my experience that when the inner voice speaks, it is rarely wrong. So when it is time to break the chains and move on, it is exactly the time to do that. I think the "how" of it will depend on so many things that are personal to you and your situation. But the important thing is to know if the inner voice is speaking, it needs to be heard, and ignoring the sense that things are over is never a good thing. To say one survives on the "other side" is not meant to imply there is no pain in getting from here to there, or even to imply that there is no pain on the other side. One always misses the good parts of a relationship. Anyone who does not, is lying. But the good parts of a relationship are not always enough or sufficient to stay - even if one will miss those aspects afterwards. Please be well.
