I have this sense... Let's call it <finger quotes>an intuition</finger quotes> that you and Arturas might not be a perfect match.

Just an observation. ;-)

I understand Arturas' point. I don't necessarily agree with his illustration but I think his post got buried underneath the reaction.
Nobody forces anybody to do anything when you are first getting to know them. I can claim to be Uber Master of the Universe and it don't mean shit...
My own gearing is more focused on relationships than play partners or fuck buddies... sometimes they work, sometimes they
crash and burn, okay, they usually crash and burn. Still, the interactions, for me, change with each
individual, in that nobody is exactly the same. Red flags are not just for subs... I ignored them with the
ex-wife and the ex-sub, both times holding onto the stubborn belief that I can work us through this. Honestly, some
people just need to be set back down and walked away from. Some people should just be ran away from...
Just my own experience, mileage will vary, perhaps the op will read what others have written, perhaps
someone else will get something from this thread and perhaps everyone will just keep repeating
their own mistakes over and over...

And Artie subscribes to that peculiar proto-Gorean belief that every submissive female will wilt before ANYONE who is a "true dom". Discernment isn't prized on Gor.

Yeah, I guess I'm just pickier that than.

A first meeting is to decide if I like you enough to go out on a date with you. Anybody that tried to push a dynamic onto me before I agreed to the dynamic went bye-bye.

Yep. And anyone who expects me to be uberdom from the get go will be sorely disappointed. Though he might have to taste my tiramisu. I will absolutely do the little things I do to see whether I like him, but those things will not be noticeable to the people at other tables.

I wish that were true and that "Artie" had said that. It would make my role as a Dom so much easier. You know, being a Dom is hard work and one takes chances as a Dom in how a submissive will react to any given situation.

Every Dom has their own style and their own way of earning trust with, I am sure, many common experiences along the way with many different submissives. I have been glad to share mine and that along with other Doms sharing their thoughts and experiences perhaps we have helped the OP and others who have a right to doubt the existance of "true doms" and can take heart that someday very soon they might enjoy the company of one over dinner, using a spoon or not.

Don't forget the ice cream cone though. It's the details that count.

No I've never seen a Dom give water to a sub right out of his hands at a dungeon. Yes, I've seen people stick needles and such at a dungeon by someone they just met 2 minutes ago and to be honest, it leaves me shaking my head that they don't know the person and they have no idea where those needles came from, how they clean their toys or what experience they have or if the other person has stds such as HIV and they accidentally poke themselves with a needle and stuff.

But like I said, I find it extremely weird and not something you'd actually catch me doing and I doubt Master would allow it either by a total stranger, at least until he found out more about the person and their experiences and watching them play first.
