Oh sweetie, sounds like you read a travel book and told everybody you've been there. Really? Seriously??

The next step is to put down the book, forget everything you've ever "learnt" there, and get out into the world with an open mind and heart and learn things.

I think this is one instance where the old school requirement of having every newb serve as a sub/bottom for a minimum amount of time before progressing to top would be intimately educational and beneficial.

Thanks for all the comments and sage advice. There are definitely some valuable takeaways here.

For one, I own that I made a mistake in characterizing porn as a laboratory for the study of real life relationships. On reflection, I can see that none of my conclusions could be attributed to any lessons learned there. Quite the contrary, it does more to confuse rather than clarify. The truth is, that I did not give serious consideration to the issue until after I had spent not a little time on sites like CM and Fetlife reading posts and corresponding with other members. It was through one correspondent that I learned about Wiseman's books.

For another, I see now that I must never publish anything after using the "find and replace" function without careful proof reading.

Are you saying that you are so weak that you stole that shit from somebody else, not even being secure in your own self that you had to rip it off from another nimwhit?

And we're supposed to take you seriously??? Come on, dude. You're killing Me.

Try as you might, you will never turn chicken shit into chicken salad.

I don't believe that is what I said.

Hey, what the hell is that square thing on the wall to the right of your ass?

LP - I don't think that's what he meant.

My translation is that he has been reading a lot on CM and Fet, put his thoughts to paper in that post, and at some point did a Find and Replace, which he did not then go back and read through.

To the OP - welcome to the dark side. I'm glad you're finding a dynamic structure that will fit your authentic self. If you don't already have an event on your calendar, do go out and find one. If attending something close to home is 'iffy', there are events just about every month of the year in some city. (except generally December).

At the end of the month is Folsom Street fair in San Fran, and in Nov there is Black Rose in Washington, DC. I'm sure there's something in Oct as well. Take a long weekend, go to an event, attend some classes and meet some people in real life.

OP. caveat: it's only a good thing to humiliate and degrade someone you cherish if being humiliated and degraded is a positive thing for her. It isn't always or for all subs.

I also struggled for some time with my nature, as opposed to my firm belief in concepts such as liberalism and feminism. I was raised by a single mother in a family without any male role models. So it was not easy for me to reconcile my interests with that part of my worldview. It finally clicked for me when I realized my nature had nothing to do with gender. Were I gay, I would seek the same dynamic with a male. Once I understood that, it was like seeing the world through new eyes.
