See that women, your vagina's are safe, you only need to move to NYC and pay the ridiculously high cost of living to save them... Oh yeah, and settle for 16oz soft drinks... How awesome is that, NY wants to keep you thin, no matter what.

On behalf of all of us men who like skinny, zit free women, I thank you Nanny Bloomberg.

When a school is allowed to give prescription drugs to teen girls without the input of a doctor or a parent is just wrong for so many reasons.

There's no medical reason why it requires a prescription for teenagers but not adults. That requirement was just a Bush administration effort to discourage teen sex.

By "conception" you mean "a soul is implanted".

Because SCIENCE is quite clear about when conception occurs, and all those SCIENCE FACTS. The issue appears to be that some people think their BELIEF that a blastocyst has a distinct, special soul and that killing the blastocyst destroys the soul.

Which, from a SCIENCE point of view is so wrong it's not even worth addressing.

That's why I wouldn't use "Murder" to describe "BIRTH CONTROL".

Science. It works, bitches!

So, do you use SCIENCE or BELIEF to make policy? I know what side of that argument I'm on.

mur·der   [mur-der] Show IPA
noun
1.
Law . the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or premeditation or occurring during the commission of another serious crime, as robbery or arson (first-degree murder), and murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation (second-degree murder).
2.
Slang . something extremely difficult or perilous: That final exam was murder!
3.
a group or flock of crows.

verb
4.
Law . to kill by an act constituting murder.
5.
to kill or slaughter inhumanly or barbarously.
6.
to spoil or mar by bad performance, representation, pronunciation, etc.: The tenor murdered the aria.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/murder

Nope I stand by my statement... Tell me what is humane about an abortion?

Every state that carries out the death penalty commits legal murder on behalf of the citizens of that state, or the US federal government, and people protest them for being inhumane all the fucking time.

Just because it's an ugly term, and progressives like to change definitions to make them less offensive doesn't change the definition, or the ugliness of the situation.

I was listening to some talk radio in the car, yesterday. There was a lady on the show - a Dr. King. I didn't catch her first name - and she had a laundry list of the possible after-affects of this medicine which included: high blood pressure, stroke, hemmoraging, and heart disease.

Now, I am absolutely pro birth control but I can't quite get behind this idea for a couple of reasons...

This is a prescription drug. The reasons (the afore-mentioned after-affects) are pretty obvious why it is. That's been determined by the FDA that this should be a controlled substance. As a controlled substance, it can be dispensed after a physician has examined a patient and determined that the medicine's advantages to that patient will out-weigh the bad side effects.

There's no examination, here.

Add to that the fact that what is going on is that a group of people are forcing their values onto the children of people with opposing values ...

Well, how many would support forced bussing of children into parochial schools? That's what is going on, here. It's essentially the same thing. It's wrong on so many levels and for so many reasons that anyone that supports this idea should either be ashamed of themselves for not understanding one of the basic tenets of our legal system or they should be ashamed because of their hypocrisy.

Either way, it's a huge shit sandwich and I refuse to bite.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Murder is a legal definition...

murder
n. the killing of a human being by a sane person, with intent, malice aforethought (prior intention to kill the particular victim or anyone who gets in the way) and with no legal excuse or authority.

OTC sales of the morning after pill were approved in 2006 for women (They can't be sold to men? If so, I'm suing someone's ass!) over the age of 18, ostensibly because they are considered to be of majority and can make "adult decisions".

Now, even I would make the case that these 13 year olds have made "adult decisions" (as I did when my youngest decided to quit high school) but are we wanting to multiply problems or are we wanting to solve them? Pouring gasoline onto a fire doesn't seem like a very progressive thing to do.

So, now, we have schools in NYC that are not only subjugating the will of parents who want to parent their children but they are violating federal (FDA) laws by doing so. What a country! I love (what) America (used to be)!

Where are the PPLs screaming about "women" being denied medical care? The duplicity and hypocrisy of some people is just beyond the scope of my understanding. These girls are being abused by the state. There's no other way around. Where are the moans and wails of the "war on women" crowd? Why is it okay that these girls are being denied medical treatment and being used as guinea pigs?

I'm so sick of lefties that I just want to vomit.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Morning-after pills, also known as emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs), are available over-the-counter (OTC) with some exceptions. You can get Plan B One-Step™ or Next Choice® at any store with a licensed pharmacist. Plan B One-Step and Next Choice are available for sale without a prescription to any man or woman age 17 and older.

Now, considering both 17 and 18 year old girls go to high school still....

New York's program was phased in in the 1-million-student school system beginning about four years ago. Nurse practitioners or physicians dispense the pills, and parents can sign an opt-out form preventing their daughters from taking part.

Only about 1 to 2 percent of parents have opted out, according to the city Health Department.

The program is seen a way to reduce a startling number: More than 7,000 New York City girls ages 15 to 17 get pregnant each year. More than two-thirds of those pregnancies end in abortions.

"We are committed to trying new approaches ...to improve a situation that can have lifelong consequences," the Health Department said in a statement.

In the 2011-12 school year, 576 girls got the pills, said Deborah Kaplan, an assistant health commissioner.

Doesnt seem like parental consent is an issue.

How are they being abused?? By the school, not by the person they had unprotected sex with, and if you read the article you would have learned the parents can opt out not allowing their children to have access, and it is dispensed by either a nurse Pr. or a DR.

So I understand you are sick of lefties, I'm sick of the people on the right who make uneducated, wrong comments without actually understanding or answering to the facts of the article,

It should be an opt-in, not an opt-out for the parents.

I was responding to the people who claim their is no medical or parents involved in the process.

There is a choice, you may not like it but the facts remain the same, parents are informed of the policy and they can make their own choice, it is not being made for them like so many on here have insisted.

Its another example of "It has to be my way or it isnt right"

Considering only 2% opt out... sending out opt in permission forms seems rather stupid and time wasting.

I can't help but wonder how many people who support things like this actually have daughters of their own. According to the article, this is an opt-out/opt in program. Let's break it down for people who actually have daughters and support this, shall we?

* You support the idea that your teenage daughter is sexually active. ask yourself this: Do you think your daughters will be more or less sexually active if the risk of pregnancy can be negated by a free pill? If you said "less" you're either an idiot or a liar.

* You support the idea that strangers are making it possible for her to be sexually active with the illusion that there are zero consequences, which in all likelihood, places her at a higher risk for STDs. According to the CDC 39% of all new HIV cases occur between the ages of 13 and 29. With 7000 teen pregnancies a year in New York City, obviously they are not using the free condoms, so do you think the increased promiscuity that pregnancy free sex sex is likely to cause will make your daughter more or less likely to contract a disease?

* You are apparently fine with the fact that strangers are supplying her with the means to deceive you about her sexual activities, and the danger promiscuity puts her in.

* You apparently feel no responsibility for your child's sexual health if you are content to allow strangers make important decisions about your child's sexual health without your knowledge or direct consent.

* You apparently are oblivious to the fact that while strangers are supplying the means for your daughters to be sexually active with a reduced risk of pregnancy whether you approve or not, those strangers cannot and will not be responsible for any medical treatment your child may need as a result of contracting an STD due to her potentially increased promiscuity.
