vincentML -> LET RYAN BE RYAN? (9/26/2012 1:54:15 PM)

At the beginning of their civil union [:D] Mitt disavowed Paul’s infamous Budget, which the Catholic Council of Bishops labeled contrary to the social doctrine of his Church. Ryan was relegated to the traditional role expected of the second spot in the Republican Campaign despite all the giddy talk about Romney’s bringing on the Conservative’s golden boy to shore up his base. Now the Campaign is in trouble. Conservative pundits are blaming Romney for not running on a conservative message and for being, well . . . Romney. They cry out for Romney to unleash Ryan. Or they hope Ryan will go rogue.

What does Ryan have to offer the campaign?

Can Ryan save the campaign if he is unleashed?

If Romney loses, can Ryan emerge as the candidate-in-waiting for 2016?

Your thoughts . . . .

Ryan is a Conservative, and could very well bring in some of the Ron Paul supporters.

Not sure I agree the campaign needs saving. Even if the campaign is going well, Conservative pundits can call out the "Conservative" candidate for not being Conservative enough. Case in point... John McCain.

Absolutely. Ryan will most likely end up as one of the candidates in 2016, if Romney loses.

And, if Romney is a dud President (if he's elected in 2012), Ryan will be a potential candidate in 2016.

DomKen -> RE: LET RYAN BE RYAN? (9/26/2012 2:31:28 PM)

The far right mistakenly believes that if people just hear their message they'll be supported by the overwhelming majority. Of course the fact is Ryan's twin hobby horses, Social Security and Medicare, are popular programs that people rely on to protect them in their old age. Only the extremely wealthy and ideologues will ever support the sorts of radical changes Ryan champions.

Beyond that he is personally unpleasant and will not sway or attract people who do not already agree with him. His Randian idolatry is offputting to anyone who has actually read that crap and not joined the cult, which is a lot of people since it is quite commonly assigned in college.

Aw, come on. Obama said it was due to the movie when even the Libyan president said it was terrorism.

Then again, perhaps Ryan is just practicing for the day he gets the job.[8|]

Ryan has spent his entire adult life safely wrapped in the cocoon of far right wing organizations. He has only since becoming a national figure two years ago encountered people willing and able to challenge his beliefs. You can see it by how completely unprepared he is to defend his positions.

QFT.

One of the problems in today's America is that people tend to hang with others like them, and think that's the way the world is. Nixon had so much trouble reconciling polls with his friends' beliefs that he created a silent majority of people who agreed with him but were missed by pollsters.

One of the things I like about P&R is that liberals are forced to read conservatives' POVs and vice versa.

He sounds kinda whiny and condescending all at once......

His backbone is only a few shrimp shells stronger that Mitt`s and the Ayn Rand stuff is creepy.

I do recall Hanity called him "buff" ......he`s got that for sure.

To be fair,he`s struck out a new path by backing medical pot and not bringing back DADT.

But the Romney is rubbing off on him so who knows if he`ll change his mind tomorrow on those issues.

Calling Romney"the Stench"??? that was new for me
I liked reading this article on politico
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0912/81618.html

Paul Ryan has gone rogue. He is unleashed, unchained, off the hook.
“I hate to say this, but if Ryan wants to run for national office again, he’ll probably have to wash the stench of Romney off of him,” Craig Robinson, a former political director of the Republican Party of Iowa, told The New York Times on Sunday.

Coming from a resident of Iowa, a state where people are polite even to soybeans, this was a powerful condemnation of the Republican nominee.
Though Ryan had already decided to distance himself from the floundering Romney campaign, he now feels totally uninhibited. Reportedly, he has been marching around his campaign bus, saying things like, “If Stench calls, take a message” and “Tell Stench I’m having finger sandwiches with Peggy Noonan and will text him later.”
Even before the stench article appeared, there was a strong sign that Ryan was freeing himself from the grips of the Romney campaign. It began after his disastrous appearance on Friday before AARP in New Orleans. Ryan delivered his remarks in the style dictated by his Romney handlers: Stand behind the lectern, read the speech as written and don’t stray from the script.

WTF are you on about. Do you think it is acceptable for a possible VP to come out with such crap ?

You could do what your buddy does and put everyone he Cannot Debate with on hide and then make sly digs in posts where another poster responds.
Showing you where your facts are wrong is not "ignoring you".... and if I were to call you an asswipe... I would be moderated...

Sure. Just ask Joe Biden[8D]

"And I'll say this to America's youth: Sniffing a little glue never hurt anyone."

Actually, it's ignoring the facts. [8|]

No its not...the facts speak for themselves... as you have been shown more than a couple of times.
trying to "make excuses " for Ryans arrogance and lack of insight is poor spin.
