RNC cuts ties with firm over voter registration allegations
By Michael Isikoff, NBC News

The Republican National Committee has fired a controversial consulting firm it was paying millions of dollars to conduct voter registration in five battleground states, NBC News has learned.

The move came after the Palm Beach County, Fla., elections supervisor discovered 108 potentially fraudulent registration forms submitted by the GOP consulting firm, including suspected phony signatures and home addresses that matched those of a gas station, a medical building, and a Land Rover automotive dealership.

NBC News has learned that four other Florida counties have also reported hundreds of possible fraudulent registration forms submitted by the firm, including apparent dead people being registered as new voters.
Prosecutors in two counties are investigating possible voter fraud by the GOP consulting firm, officials said.

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The Republican Party of Virginia has terminated its relationship with Strategic Allied Consulting over allegations of potential voter registration fraud in Florida.

“The Republican Party of Virginia takes any threat to the voting process very seriously. Following an alleged incident by an employee of Strategic Allied Consultants, we have terminated our contract with them effective immediately,” Chairman Pat Mullins of the Republican Party of Virginia said in a statement to CBS 6.

The Virginia Republican Party, according to filings by the Federal Election Commission obtained by CBS 6, paid Strategic Allied Consulting $500,000 this summer to register voters in Virginia.
This week, the Florida Republican Party, fired the group over reports of potential voter fraud in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Is there a law in California that states one must vote for the party they're registered to?

If not, why does it matter if one is a registered republican if the vote a straight democrat ticket? I'd think that crap like this would give the democrats bragging rights.

"Hey look at how many republicans crossed the party lines and voted for us! Doesn't that prove our platform is the one America wants?"

Well, it does mean that, if they don't realize, they won't be able to vote in their party's primary in 2 years.

Other than that, though, it doesn't mean a whole lot. I doubt this was a malicious effort on the part of the GOP. It was probably just, like most voter registration fraud cases you hear about, a case of some people that get paid based on how many people they register deciding to to make more money by doing something shady. Just in the this case, it involves getting people to sign a fake petition instead of registering dead people or made-up people.
