Hey!!!! I am just relating a very intimate personal story of my own in empathy, and you go shitting all over my dreams..........

I feel so cheap, and I bet you would dig in my cupboards if I invited you over too.

I could drug you Ron. Ever heard of Ricin? I also like hot shots of nutmeg.

mnottertail -> RE: Ahhhhhh...some people are dumb (9/27/2012 11:40:24 AM)

I like blowjobs and rimjobs, foot worship feels good too.  I have nutmeg.  I only eat rice occasionally, I like garlic mash.

Ricin, ----> from the castor oil plant Ricinus communis, is a highly toxic, naturally occurring protein. A dose as small as a few grains of salt can kill an adult human. The LD50 of ricin is around 22 micrograms per kilogram (1.76 mg for an average adult, around 1⁄228 of a standard aspirin tablet/0.4 g gross) in humans if exposure is from injection or inhalation.[1] Oral exposure to ricin is far less toxic and a lethal dose can be up to 20–30 milligrams per kilogram.

I know when my mom made me take castor oil, it fuckin near killed me.  So I believe you.

JanahX -> RE: Ahhhhhh...some people are dumb (9/27/2012 12:00:38 PM)

That would be a good excuse to tell a boss too: "Hi, I cant come in today - I ate ricin. Im going to die."

When Generic Dude worked in HR for a company that had a very strong union, it made me very glad I have never worked for a company that was union.
HR isn't a great thrill, union or not.

My boss would have said, well, can you come in tomorrow and work overtime then?

On the flip side, I had a boss who said to me:

1) When I told her that I had been diagnosed with cancer and I was going to need some time off. She said< "How much time? Because I need you here."

2) When my grandfather died, I asked to get out of work an hour early on a Friday, so I could be at the wake when it started. She said: I don't understand why you need to leave early. He'll still be dead if you get there an hour late."

That reminds me of a woman I worked for years ago. She was cold........ice cold.

7 years ago I got pregnant through IVF.
The day before my egg retrieval I tried to call out because I had a a bad cold.
I was told by the on-call manager I had to come in.

A couple of days later, after the embryo transfer, I got a note to stay home for the rest of the week since they preferred you took it easy and I still had this cold.
When I went back I got yelled at because "this procedure wasn't supposed to interfere with work".

The heartbeat came albeit a bit late and right before I was going to be discharged to OB they did one more ultrasound... no heartbeat.
(In addition, the cold I had 2 + months before had settled into asthmatic bronchitis... so now that there was not going to be a baby, I was told to take care of myself and they pulled out the bigger (non-baby-safe) guns med-wise to knock out the asthmatic bronchitis.)
My taking it easy was not an issue: I had already scheduled time off for my birthday and was spending it with my (step)mom. And now I had a Dr's note besides.
My birthday was on a Thursday, I returned on Sunday from my approved time off and when I called in to my house manager Monday morning and explained I would not yet be back at work because the miscarriage was still going on, I was told "This is ridiculous!"

What a good boss. He likes money.

myotherself -> RE: Ahhhhhh...some people are dumb (9/27/2012 12:48:41 PM)

When I worked for a City finance company, I had a young guy work for me who used to go out in the evening, get falling-down drunk and usually haul himself into work around 2 hours late, usually in the same clothes and stinking to high heaven (don't ask me what he smelled of - trust me, you don't wanna know [:'(])

When he did this, I usually bollocked him and reported the issue to HR.

Anyways, he'd been with the company about 6 weeks in total and had been in late every day except the first one. One day it got to noon and he still hadn't turned in. I called down to HR and asked them to set up an interview with him. When he finally came to work, about 2pm (in his usual dishevelled state) he was taken straight to HR...and made a complaint about me!

Apparently he drank because I was so mean and horrible to him, and he didn't go to work until very late that day because he knew I'd bollock him again, so he stayed away as long as he could. Then his conscience wouldn't let him take any more time off so he came to work. Still in last night's clothes (which he'd actually been wearing about 3 days) and stinking. He then had the temerity to say that he should be praised for eventually coming in, even though he was scared of me!

Needless to say, he was shown the door. Thank goodness for probationary periods [:D]

So I own a small company, have about 10 people working for me. So about 6 months ago a employee with less than a year on the job came to me and said her Mother died and she needed to take time off. OK, no problem I gave her a week with pay and she ended up taking 2 more weeks off, one with pay and one without.

Fast forward to last Saturday, I went to her wedding...and you guessed it I met her Mother.....

Now she could have told me before the wedding about her lie, she could have done a lot of things, she did nothing, and when she came into work yesterday and we talked in the office with a manger present, she tried to tell me she never told me her mother died and that I gave her the time off because she was moving.

She longer works for me, it will be interesting to see if she files for unemployment

Seven...one thing I've learned over 36 years in business....document everything.

I once (& once only) was running late on a Monday morning due to chronic alcohol abuse.[:D]

So I called my boss on the mobile & explained that I wasn't coming in as I was very very sick. He asked how sick so I replied well I'm in bed with my sister.

An extremely long silence was followed by my Boss (the MD) pissing himself with laughter.

I got to work 3 hrs late & nothing was said at all.

3 months or so later I got promoted to a full Directorship.

The company went bust 3 years later & I just missed a stint in prison for vat/ tax evasion but the old MD & I are still solid friends.
Sometimes it pays to be a twat.
