On Ricin:

Castor Oil is made from the Castor Bean which contains no ricin. Ricin comes from the bean hull and leaves of the plant and is highly toxic.
On the same vein, the stems and leaves of the tomato plant are highly toxic. (The tomato is a variant of belladonna)

And Rhubarb leaves ain't your best day in life either. Oxalic acid (what makes rhubarb tart) and they use that to refinish furniture and remove rust from metals.

I remember I was at my last job and my uncle had died. I had been extremely close to him, almost like a second dad. So I wanted to attend the funeral back in my hometown 6 hours away. I asked my boss if I could have the next two days off to attend the funeral. She said I could only take it off if it was a direct relative..mom, dad, sister, brother, husband, etc....an uncle did not count, and she needed me there because there was no one else available to take my shift even though I knew for a fact there was. She simply was an asshole boss who hated me as much as I hated her.

So I called my family and told them I couldn't make it. To this day I still have not been forgiven by my family for this.

During one of the first 3 days of training one guy came in late by like 20 minutes because he had to ride the bus and as punishment the boss made him sing a lil ditty in front of all his future to be coworkers then informed us all if any of the rest of us were late, we would share the same fate of being made to sing in front of everyone. That's not a example of being stupid however, just unfortunate.

Also same trainer made an offer of 70 dollars that at least 4 trainees would get a question o. A test wrong, or something i cant remember exactly the wording its been a2 years n I was really tempted to accept the bet but 70 was a lot to wager. Turns out I would have won if I had accepted the bet, and I got the question right.

Yes I have had jobs before. 2 to be exact. And I applied for one as an afterschhol program aid, that one someone better qualified got. Not an awesome or impressive number,by any means, but it does count.

On the flip side, I had a boss who said to me:

1) When I told her that I had been diagnosed with cancer and I was going to need some time off. She said< "How much time? Because I need you here."

2) When my grandfather died, I asked to get out of work an hour early on a Friday, so I could be at the wake when it started. She said: I don't understand why you need to leave early. He'll still be dead if you get there an hour late."

Yeah-I'd have quit on the spot (And told them off real good on the way...as in the entire business would have heard my ripping them a new one). I don't work for people like this.
Did it once as a kid-never again.

Now, true story, once I got poison ivy all over me, which wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't, ahem, taken care of business before I realized I had it. When my boss asked why I couldn't come in I told him the truth, that I had the ivies all over my junk and every time anything rubbed against it (As in underwear) it spread the infection.
First and only time I ever caught that man speechless.
Needless to say, I was an instant legend at work for that dealio .

As a Boss, I hadda a female employee call in sick once, said she was on her period and her ovaries hurt. It was the perfect excuse. There was absolutely no reply I could make w/o violating like a million HR policies.
She got her day off no problemo.

/snicker/

I've heard of ovarian pain during ovulation but never during menstruation. Anyone experience this?

I think the only time I ever used being female to shirk my duty was during gas mask training in the USAF. Anyone who might be pregnant was excused from going in the chamber. Since I was sexually active, I figured pregnancy was indeed possible, and stayed out of the chamber.
