That would be nice, wouldn't it?

I also wonder how much direction went into the crafting of the video. The camera was clearly at close range, so it seems odd that the woman is screaming. Perhaps she was coached--or paid--to do so?

The lady said she got a subsidized cell phone....I tend to believe her.

tazzygirl -> RE: It ain't ET phone home (9/27/2012 4:57:51 PM)

Yes, Im sure she did. Now try reading the link to find out just where that bit came from and when. Pst... hint... at the end of the snopes article. [;)]

So, you think she lied.

Considering that there are known and well publicized federal programs to provide those with lower incomes cell phones at no charge, which is a proven fact and she, a black woman got one....by virtue of that, you believe she lied.

Okay....all good.

Owner59 -> RE: It ain't ET phone home (9/27/2012 5:41:08 PM)

Now if Mitt had said "Obama phone" instead food and clothes.....he might not be looking like the dip-shit he is right now........[:D]

Nope. I think the OP lied.

I shall help you since you cannot seem to find the link to read the article.

Obama phone

Now if that ain't a reason to vote for da man[8|]

Now, the claim is that this is an Obama sponsored program.

"Also contrary to what is suggested in the example quoted above, LifeLine/Link-up is not an "Obama program" (ie., one that was initiated by or during the Obama Administration). The LifeLine and Link-Up programs were established by the FCC in 1984 and 1987, respectively, during the administration of Ronald Reagan. The SafeLink Wireless service was launched by TracFone in Tennessee in August 2008 and Florida in September 2008, months before the election that put Barack Obama in the White House"

Next time, do try reading.... may help you appear not quite so lacking in information.

There's the liberal "think". See, the program was not started under Obama so it's all good. The point escapes the liberal mind.

The vid is not about the phone but that she votes according to what is given her.

tazzygirl -> RE: It ain't ET phone home (9/27/2012 6:30:01 PM)

rofl

here you are bitching about programs started under Republican Presidents.. and you blame Obama?

Perhaps not. Though it's interesting that your bold link said "Obama Phone," and you didn't raise this "real" point of the thread till the inaccuracy of the OP became manifest.

Isn't (perceived) economic interest a key factor in almost everyone's voting? Why are we singling out the woman in the video?

DesideriScuri -> RE: It ain't ET phone home (9/27/2012 8:21:45 PM)

Well, the description of the link is a dig at Obama and an Obama supporter, as has been stated. And, as has also been stated, this video shows how some people are simply going to vote for whoever they perceive will give them the most stuff.

These phones are typically given to welfare recipients and do not carry unlimited minutes (one link stated about 70 minutes/month). One business handing out the phones has tablets that can access a County database to verify the person is on welfare and qualifies for the phone. Through the tablet, they also have the ability to note when someone has gotten a phone. There may be a serial number linked to that recipient, too. This business giving out the phones will get $5/phone given out.

How many phones could you give out in St. Louis, Colorado, etc.?

Why would they? They've shown time and time again they're not interested in the truth.

Only if one is so stupid as to not comprehend. As I said, Now if that ain't a reason to vote for da man.

Since you had to bring it up, which one are you?

Com' on, man!

Do you really think he's stupid? Some on here demonstrate their ideologies more than others, but I don't know that anyone on here is out and out stupid.

Your focus on "Obama Phone" and "da man" (interesting diction there, by the way) sounded as if you were accusing the President of buying votes with free phones. When the inconvenient fact that the program predated Obama emerged, you shifted gears to how "she votes" more generally. I may be overthinking the matter, but that's how it read to me.

Sorry. You'll need a different playmate if you want to toss mud.

FR

Mulling over this thread, I remembered a former colleague whose husband was a top executive for a major defense contractor. By her account, both of them voted Republican, because the GOP was more likely to steer lucrative contracts their way. Is that, I wonder, another variation of voting according to what is given to one?

Lucylastic -> RE: It ain't ET phone home (9/28/2012 6:43:40 AM)

From what Ive seen its voting for what you want, or what you dont want other people getting:)
if someone doesnt want to pay for everyones healthcare, living expenses, welfare, benefits, etc, to getting a better tax rate, deductions, perks of business(and yes, I am a business owner) loopholes, paying less taxes, paying something you dnt benefit from, to getting free stuff, stopping a women from getting an abortion, family planning, screenings, smaller government, religious intrusion into EVRYONEs life etc, its all from a "self" orientation.
I dont see nyone being immune to it
having said that...really the OP is just so much flotsam in the sea of crap

It's all been bought. It's implicit in what Alan Keyes said.

Yes!

This country has become a land of dependents.
