Lucylastic -> RE: It ain't ET phone home (9/28/2012 7:32:02 AM)

The federal "Lifeline" program was created during the Reagan Administration. Lifeline is a federal program created by the Reagan era Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 1984. The program was enhanced under Telecommunications Act of 1996, which was supported on a broadly bipartisan basis in Congress. The FCC’s Low Income Program of the Universal Service Fund, which is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), is designed to ensure that quality telecommunications services are available to low-income customers at just, reasonable, and affordable rates. Lifeline support reduces eligible low-income consumers' monthly charges for basic telephone service.

SafeLink phones are not paid for by taxpayers or the federal government. TracFone Wireless pays for the phones and also the cost of promoting its SafeLink program to make sure that eligible consumers know about the program.

Yes, Im sure she did. Now try reading the link to find out just where that bit came from and when. Pst... hint... at the end of the snopes article. [;)]

So, you think she lied.

Considering that there are known and well publicized federal programs to provide those with lower incomes cell phones at no charge, which is a proven fact and she, a black woman got one....by virtue of that, you believe she lied.

Okay....all good.

Nope. I think the OP lied.

I shall help you since you cannot seem to find the link to read the article.

Now if that ain't a reason to vote for da man[8|]

Now, the claim is that this is an Obama sponsored program.

"Also contrary to what is suggested in the example quoted above, LifeLine/Link-up is not an "Obama program" (ie., one that was initiated by or during the Obama Administration). The LifeLine and Link-Up programs were established by the FCC in 1984 and 1987, respectively, during the administration of Ronald Reagan. The SafeLink Wireless service was launched by TracFone in Tennessee in August 2008 and Florida in September 2008, months before the election that put Barack Obama in the White House"

Next time, do try reading.... may help you appear not quite so lacking in information.

Who's the Prez? Who doles out the candy??

Whoever signed law....it's always controlled by (any) present...administration.

Like Romney has argued he will cancel failing bureaucracy....Obama could have done similarly.

He chose not to.

Would think people would factcheck their bullshit better.

Why would they? They've shown time and time again they're not interested in the truth.

Indeed, that's the ONLY thing anyone should be interested in.

Since you had to bring it up, which one are you?

Com' on, man!

Do you really think he's stupid? Some on here demonstrate their ideologies more than others, but I don't know that anyone on here is out and out stupid.

I question that hypothesis.

Telecommunications Act of 1996

Congress.

The Universal Service Fund (USF) was created by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in 1997 to meet Congressional universal service goals as mandated by the Telecommunications Act of 1996

Congress.

No its not. That claim was never made. The vid itself states ObamaPhone, in her own words. No where is there any claim to it being an Obama sponsored program. The evidence does not support your contentions.

Unfortunately, they have continued unabated.

Obama didnt sign this law.

You are, once again, under the mistaken belief that a President can just make any ole law illegal with the simple act of his signature alone.

The woman stated that, because Obama is the current candy distributor.

He (Obama) could have chosen to cut off the skittles transfer.

He opted not to.

Romney will.

And the last one was signed by Bush. I do believe Obama has had a few more important things to worry about.

Once again... since you have all the erroneous facts.. exactly how does Romney propose to do that?

The OP was indeed mine. Where in the OP was there anything about the ObamaPhone being an Obama sponsored program? Show it or admit you are wrong. The woman in the vid stated what she stated and my retort was to her reason to vote.

Now, go wash your panties.

You are assuming I wear any. Your first error.

Calling it an Obama Phone in your OP is what has lead many to believe that is what you were implying. If you dont like the implication, then make yourself clearer.
