The leaves are turning colour. I have put away the Eau Dynamisante. Summer is over.

Other than that, chop wood, carry water.

Howsit where you are?

LaTigresse -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 8:07:32 AM)

Gorgeous!

The dry summer has fueled some spectacular fall colour (as you may have seen yesterday on FB). We spent the day hiking at one of the state parks.

My drive to and fro for work is just amazingly gorgeous right now. I could stop and take photos every few hundred feet. The air is cooler and still dry. The farmers are going crazy trying to get whatever they can out of the dead fields. Harvest is pretty lousy this year.

And, last evening GD and I were geeking out with the metal detector and instead of finding any valuable metal, we found a very cool native american artifact. Many moons ago there was a large Fox settlement on our property. We are always finding goodies.

We're still seeing a few bits of sunshine here, but the temperature has definitely gone down now. We've had loads of rain. A month's worth in one day last week, and that's a lot of rain for us over here. [;)]

I even had to get my cardigan on the other day. Here comes autumn... [8D]

LadyHibiscus -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 9:24:17 AM)

NO! NO! to cardies! And stockings. I go barelegged until it is REALLY cold. I have a long period of Coat Resistance during the day, too.

Me too!

I refuse to wear a coat until it's below freezing and even then, it's really only a light jacket. The heavy winter stuff doesn't come out until it get's below zero.

bighappygoth39 -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 9:35:28 AM)

Yep, I absolutely hate cardies and wearing a coat to go out in. Hate them.
I've just been bought a nice light raincoat. It is wonderful. It also means I don't have to bring my thick winter coat out until it gets so it's freezing my breath... [8D]

LadyHibiscus -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 9:36:40 AM)

I do feel the cold, what I need to wear soon is GLOVES. I have Raynaud's, I need to start wearing them all the time come November. Do I? HELL no. I have them in every coat pocket, though. My poor mother has become incredibly sensitive to the cold, but hasn't given up her old feels-warm habits. Never has the right clothing... and doesn't want to seem like a wuss. OR admit that she is SICK so of course she is cold!! DUH!!

I used to drive around and take pictures of the changing leaves back when I was friends with Bill, he never saw the leaves in the SW, but he missed them from when he lived in upstate NY. Now that my phone has such a decent camera on it I can do that again. Colors are already peaking up north, I gather... it's been a bizarre season. There's some kind of deer ailment going around, so I'm not sure how hunting season will go, either.

Oh, LaT, check your mail in a bit, I have a grandma question to ask you!

LadyPact -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 12:08:55 PM)

How is it? It fucking snowed! That's how it is. LOL.

Today, believe it or not is both MP's birthday and the gal who I mentor's birthday. Weird co-incidence, huh? (Funny thing, I also had a submissive years ago that shared My favorite little person's birthday. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?)

Well, aside from pissing people off, which I seem to have a great talent for these days, I'd say things are going ok. I did not make it through the entire month of September smoke-free. I make it four or five days at a shot and end up smoking one. (Good God, that after sex cig is harder to give up than that first morning cig!) I just look at it as trying again, rather than failure.

Other than that, I'll be back making candles this week. I've sold the supply and have folks who have them ordered. It's still a VERY small time operation and I'll wreck the house doing it, but I really do enjoy it.

GreedyTop -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 12:41:08 PM)

Please tell MrP I wish him a happy birthday!! *sends hugs, too*

Titaniya -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 3:13:21 PM)

Early October is my favorite time of year. It seems I'm among the minority here -I really like fall clothing (and it helps that I just got a nifty leather jacket). That aside, I looove the leaves and the apple/pumpkin foods everywhere and Samhain.

I'm busy by my standards, since all of my classes and several of my martial arts are giving me tests right now, but I have a lot of good things going in terms of relationships and life progress so I don't have too many complaints.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 3:59:18 PM)

Remember that job you all sent me good vibes for and I got? I love it. No really, I fucking LOVE it. Except for the past three days - I've been working on a wedding magazine, and it's a PITA. Fashion magazines = FML. But otherwise, the job is AbFab. I've never enjoyed a job as much as I like this one. It's a good thing, too, since Hubby is laid off. Again. It's times like this I friggin' hate his 1099-Independent Contractor status. But, c'est la vie.

For the past couple of months, I've been chatting with a very cute (and very young, OMG!) sub guy in Minnesota. He's just adorable. We're planning the initial face-to-face meeting sometime after his midterms, either late this month or in early November. It will just depend on his schedule. Although he initially said he wasn't interested in a LDR, I get the impression he's rethinking that stance. But, even if nothing more comes of our interaction, I've already made a good friend. This makes me very happy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the rest.

PheonixRose -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 5:27:47 PM)

unfortunately for me i know that feeling LP and guess what i still will have my morning and after sex ciggy especially the after sex one and both non ecig but the way i look at it is that it is a supplment to make real ciggies last longer LOL. my main reason for switching is heathier for constant smoking around chipmunk and i dont think ill ever actually give up smoking LOL.

TNDommeK -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 6:50:22 PM)

I wore a hoodie today!! I'm so glad winter is on the way. The leaves are changing colors here as well. Things are great here, we have been doing a lot of traveling lately, thus the reason I haven't been on here much. Not a lot to check in with except that the family is good. Hope everyone else is good as well.

QueenRah -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 7:42:38 PM)

October has always been my favorite month. The air has, finally, lost its miserably sweltering factor, the sun shines brightly and the beach is still doable. In fact, my first October here, I was laying out on the beach, until late in the month! I really should get down there. I love it when the tourons have departed.

While business isn't "booming," exactly, it's still on a steady rise. Luxery items are the first to go. But, thankfully, there are still people who feel they deserve them and can afford them.

Fight the power, Ladies! Keep those nasty coat thingies doffed. LP, I tip my hat to you for chucking the ciggy habit. Your suffering shall pass, I promise! Congrats, Syl, on the great career move.

Y'all take care, 'hear?

Very mild weather here. I can still walk around during the day in short sleeves, light jacket at night.

NiceButMeanGirl -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/1/2012 9:20:22 PM)

Lady P, I heard about the snow too, from my submissive in Anchorage. Happy Birthday to MrP and also to your protege. [:)]

My sub, NorthernTsar here on CM, was planning on getting down here tomorrow to see me, but he couldn't get away from work. I'm a bit disappointed, as I haven't seen him since the tail end of July, but I kind of knew that would happen as I know his work schedule. So we're going to try again for some time before the weather gets to icky for him to travel. He travels a lot & discovered, when he was in the Coast Guard, that he loves this area so comes this way when he can.

The weather here is getting more windy and down in the mid-40s at night. I actually had to close my window before bedtime a couple nights ago, which is very unusual for me. I wore a coat today too, which is also very unusual for me, as I'm very hot-blooded.

I made some new panne velvet curtains for my living room yesterday. They're burgundy and match all my furniture perfectly! My cat likes them better than the cream lace ones I kept closed over the window, as he can see out the window better. lol

Rah, I think we're soul sisters!! You and my neighbors are the only ones I've ever heard use that term (tourist + moron = touron.)

It was 87 here today. Of course, I went to the beach. I'm retired, I can do that.

After 6 weeks of total lock-down for this health bummer I remain undiagnosed. Docs are still working on it. Whatever it was (is) seems to have passed the critical stage and thanks to transfusions and massive doses of iron I'm feeling well and much more energetic. Good thing, 'cuz there's a huge dance in Monterey and despite dire warnings not to, I'm going and I WILL dance. S has been a godsend through this episode.

The boat's still 'in irons' so to speak (not the fun kind!) and I doubt Cabin Boy and I will be sailing for the rest of the year. This is a tragedy; the weather has been picture-perfect. That's why I go to the beach so much.

I bought an accordion. Very different horse than the piano. I thought my proficiency there would make it a breeze to learn. Not so. The right hand's easy...but the person who dreamed up the feckin' buttons on the left should be mercilessly single-tailed. My band laughs at me; very humbling. That squeezebox instantly cut me right down to size. [8D]

All else is groovy and status quo. Syl, I'm delighted for you. Huge congrats on your job. Stay well, everybody!

QueenRah -> RE: It is OCTOBER people!! So check in already! (10/2/2012 1:09:38 PM)

Wow. MDA! I had no idea about your ailment. That is fecking scary. Please forgive ignorant question, but, here goes: *ahem* Does consumption of organ meats, dark green leafies, and other high-iron content food help, at all? I've had success feeding organ meats to anemic rescue pets that were on the verge of collapse due to extreme malnourishment and parasitic infestation. Granted, they weren't bleeding from an undisclosed location in the body. But, wonder if it could make any difference to a person in your situation.

Lighter note: Yes, "tourons." Not an original idea, I'm sure. But, certainly, appropriate. (And a little sf geeky, on my part. I was kinda sorta thinking about the "Taurons" from 'Caprica' (not in a derogatory sense! Gods forfend! They were a proud, noble race. May they RIP.)

I'm sure they would if I would eat them, heh heh. [8D] I don't do organ meats or beef, but I've been trying to choke down spinach and beet salads as often as tolerated. Docs are taking no chances though: Eight 65 mg tablets of ferrous sulfate daily [:'(][:'(][:'(] until I'm in normal range, then I hope they'll back it off.
