Is there any way you can understand a slave is not a switch? It happened to me and did not know how to cope with it cause he was also a lover.

I'm not sure of the question actually. But the only way to know a person is what they say they are is to get to know them over time, and use your good judgement- nothings perfect though.

I don't think there is a special birthmark or anything. Maybe just ask? Communicate openly and understand people evolve and needs change sometimes?

People change over time. There is no way to determine, at a given point in time, what someone will grow into months or years down the road. Unfortunately, that is a fact of life. Everything in life changes, and sometimes, the changes are not what we were hoping for or expecting. We can either chose to cope, or choose to walk away. If we choose to cope there will be challenges, if we chose to walk away there will be challenges. This is the reason that I will not promise "forever" to anyone. I have no idea what I will become or what they will become over time, and whether it will remain healthy for us to continue to be together -- why promise on what we cannot control? The best way to handle life is with a lot of hope, a lot of joy, a healthy measure of self-respect, and a whole LOT of flexibility. Well speaking as a switch myself, other than asking and trusting them there is really no way to be sure. It is as always a trust issue, but then again if you find them looking at the wrong sort of picuters on the internet it may be a small indication. [:D] But also one point I would like to make is that as switch myself for the right person I could be a 24/7 slave, just as for the right person I could be a 24/7 Dom. But it tends to be different for every switch.

I don't think you could define it, perhaps it is only possible to give examples. However one could define it by what it is not, as in a switch is everyone who isn't just submissive or Dominaint.

I would think that finding a sub there would be hard enough. Most porn that I've seen promotes male no limit slaves as the ideal. As we've proven here time and again no limit is fiction. Even the hard core can find SOMETHING that they will say no to. Reliable references from previous partners would be the only way that I would start to believe them.
