Vida........try this............I either move the cart out of sight or add an item or two from mine LOL. The looks on their faces: priceless! And they do seem to pay more attention to their carts afterwards <grin>

Pet peeves or stuff that gets on my tits? Well yes..

My own ability to - when I am trying to move through a dark room in bare feet - to stub my little toe against a solid piece of furniture such as a table leg which I feel really shouldn't be there.

My other ability to place my keys in the one place where I am most likely to find hard to remember.

Customer service lines which tell you that due to a large number of calls they would prefer that you visit their website.

Security questions. Seriously. Having to remember my account number, a memorable date, my postcode, the first line of my address, my mother's maiden name, my date of birth and then my name, often in that order.

People who use mobile phones whilst driving, walking, or even cycling.

Coin operated machines which reject random coins when you are in a hurry.

Manufacturers who wrap their products in that impenetrable plastic wrapping which requires scissors, knives and which when opening can often result in minor injuries.

Having to deal with the new receptionist at my doctor's surgery. I don't know her family name, but I'm pretty sure it's Rottweiler.

Textspeak. Seriously. Ltrs exst n wds fr a rsn. It's called language, and there is a reason why the English alphabet has twenty six letters. If I want to play Hangman I will let you know.

Precisely.

When fighting with packaging, it always makes me feel bad thinking of elderly (or any age) people who have arthritis or limited strength in or use of their hands having to deal with the same thing.

People who bathe in chemical fragrances; perfume, cologne, skin, hair and laundry products you can smell from 30 feet away, which causes you to choke when next to them. Good grief, it's enough to choke a horse! Have they no sense of social responsibility?

Another one...people who do the same crap, and subject and torture you, with loud music. I just want to throttle them while yelling, "If I wanted to listen to your Gawd danged awful music, I would be doing so. What the hell's the matter with you? Shut that crap off, you anti-social moron!!"

I was friends with someone who would place items in their cart. Not sure it taught them anything though!

Fragrances and Perfumes Can Be Toxic

Beware of Calvin Klein’s “Eternity eau de parfume”

As emphasized in the Safe Shopper’s Bible, fragrances and perfumes in cosmetics, personal and household products are leading causes of allergy, sensitization, and irritation. Animal toxicity studies have found many to be hazardous. Fragrances are called “indoor air-pollutants” by chemically sensitive individuals.

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has reported that the fragrance industry uses up to 3000 ingredients, predominantly synthetic, some 900 of which were identified as toxic. However, the industry is not required to disclose ingredients of fragrances and perfumes on their labels due to trade secrecy considerations. The FDA supports this non-disclosure on the grounds that "consumers are not adversely affected -- and should not be deprived of the enjoyment" of these products.

An analysis of six different mainstream perfumes by Scientific Instrument Services, released in November 1998, identified over 800 ingredients with distinctive patterns for each perfume. These ingredients include a wide range of volatile and semi-volatile organic chemicals which are thus a significant contributors to indoor air pollution.

On May 11, 1999, the California Environmental Health Network filed a Citizen Petition with the FDA requiring warning labels on all fragrances which are marketed without prior adequate safety testing. Additionally, the petition requested the FDA to take administrative action and declare Calvin Klein’ Cosmetic Company "Eternity eau de parfume" as "misbranded." This petition has been supported and endorsed by the CPC. While Eternity perfume has been known since 1995 as toxic to the respiratory tract and nervous system, the petition was based on recent analysis of the perfume by two independent laboratories, Scientific Instruments Services and the cosmetic industry’s Research Institute of Fragrance Materials Laboratory. Of all 41 ingredients identified, no toxicity data are available on some, data on most are inadequate, and others are known to be toxic to the skin, mucous membranes, respiratory tract, and reproductive and nervous systems by routes including skin absorption and inhalation. Additionally, two ingredients (phenylmethyl acetic acid ester and 2,6–bis (1,1–dimethylethyl) –4–methyl–phenol) were identified as carcinogens. The FDA has 180 days to respond to this petition. However, any positive response is most unlikely.

Neways International, a leading alternative safe consumer products company, has taken a precedential initiative in the area of fragrance safety. The few fragrances used in Neways personal care products contain less than 10 ingredients, most of which are natural. As importantly, none of the few synthetics used are known to be toxic or carcinogenic. In the near future, these products will be labeled accordingly.

Bless your heart, Kali. It's a serious issue to many, myself included.

I do that! And I type n instead of and. But I don't care if ppl don't like it.

I mean nothing personal here TFB; I just don't get why a person would intentionally dumb themselves down when they know better. Maybe a style thingy?

Duskypearls -> RE: Pet Peeves (10/9/2012 8:29:40 PM)

Yep, Mistress, I think it's a style thingie, and it also sounds kind of cute. I like the way the vibrations feel as it rolls off my tongue. I rarely use whatever it is you call those things like "lol, rofl," and 'tho I do use "OMG" quite a bit, I tend not to be too lax in what leeway I give myself when playing with words, unless I intentionally want to sound funny. Prolly, however, I like to say, use, and see used. We NY'er's are constantly accused, and guilty, of slurring vowels and consonants so much people make fun of us, so I figured, "What's the harm in one more?!" I mean, they probably already think we're gutter snipes, right?!

MistressDarkArt -> RE: Pet Peeves (10/9/2012 8:39:45 PM)

Dusky, sort of like "g'mornin', darlin'?" which is the literal written form of my 'accent' (sometimes people think I'm from the south though Ca. born and raised.) That would definitely be a style thing then. [8D]

Exactly, my dear. I use darlin' quite a bit, as I find it affectionate and endearing, as well as back atcha, dontcha know, kinda like, whaddya doin, etc., from time to time, all in fun and relaxed familiarity.

When you know for damn sure that you've cleaned out the windowsill of any and all possible signs of spider-life, and the moment you pull in your A/C unit for the winter a dozen of the fuckers jump out from where you just cleaned.

I swear, that's the only thing I hate about seasonal change.
