Always been a supporter of our forums here, always been in stride with the owners, even suggested ads long before they appeared knowing that this has to cost more than a few bucks a day/year (kinda wondered why they didn't have them)....and I'm very thankful for a well Moderated, generally friendly (and amazingly, after all these years....still free) site but....that whole getting the phone/cam chics pop up thing before I even type in my screen name....that's kind of cheesy.

Hey...we all gotta make a buck and I totally, as a businessman, understand economics (actually, I don't....I haven't a clue what this place costs to run....probably a fortune) but truly...that new addition....cheesy.

Really.

I'm sure it won't send anyone away....and it ain't my site or investment so I don't have a voice in the matter clearly but....it's kind of low rent.

It's kind of not what this place is about (in my opinion)...and not being the guy that writes the checks every month....please accept my comments for what they're worth....not a whole lot.

Dooood, that just happened to me and it freaked me the fuck out. I was on the Mouses computer and was like, "WTF sort of sites have you been looking at?"
I'm glad you posted this-the lilone was about to spend her night hunting for a virus that I now know doesn't exist.

(And, because I'm a pig, purely from a male perspective, that chica was haaawt)

Seriously annoying. Seriously. Thought I had a virus on my computer, too. Looks like it only happens the first time you click.

I clicked the pop up closed before it finished opening. And will continue to do so.

Fundraisers sometimes succeed in restoring sites to a popup free state.

I have no idea what they are, but there are approximately 1.5 million members, an active forum, vid chat area, irc server, the personals side, mail storage for the other side for 6 months. Alot of what I cannot say such as the equipment and such would suprise you. I will say though that until 2007 or 2008,( I just dont remember at the moment) Collarme was totally ad FREE, no rentals of anything, nothing. When it got to almost 500,000 members the banner ads came. Before that, the owners took the entire cost from themselves. So I feel I can safely say that it was necessary to get more $, because the owners have substantially contributed, for longer than it was even ad free. I know that you are willing to contribute, and my private opinion is there should be some kind of charge for some of the bells and whistles that members enjoy without even thinking about, that pay sites dont even offer. I have no idea how many would like to join you in fundraising though :). If I can find out an amount and am allowed to release it, I will definitely tell ya!! They did it once every 24 hours and those that dont want to see it, can close it easily. Hopefully that will make it relatively non intrusive to those that do not have an interest in the subject the advertisement addresses. There will be a lot of members that are interested, and they can stay on the page.

ETA: I guess my brain is dead tonight. In truth, that membership number is very old. I have actually No idea how many members there are at present. That number is almost a year old. It is probably much higher now.
