Oh wow, was that one of your first?  You did get raked over pretty well for that.

I've got scars, man, I've got scars!

Yes, I introduced myself to the Forums on Feb 7th and that thread was on the 11th.  Ouch.  [sm=tongue.gif]

All I can say is if people think they've been slammed on this forum, they should have tried being on the old MDOM list in its heyday (1997-1998).  It was the first discussion forum to which I'd ever belonged, and I had my head handed to me many times over.  What I learned was this:  If you're going to put your thoughts and beliefs out there in a public forum, you'd damned well better be prepared to back 'em up.  If not, then you need to get back up on the porch and let the big dogs run without you.

This is their only life. Sad isn't it.

I wasn't going to read this thread until i saw a reference to it in another thread, and decided to check it out. I used to spend way too much time here, which is why i took a 6 month break from the forums last year. Now i try to limit my time here to about an hour a day, maybe longer on some days when i am home alone. I hope as a "reg" i haven't offended or attacked any of the newbies. I love all the information, friendships and entertainment i get here. I do have an offline life and i also know that at times too much online time interfers with that, something i am working on.  [:)]

I think a lot of time on here is not just communication with others but killing time till ___(fill in the blank).

MistressLorelei -> RE: Who really is offline? (6/14/2006 11:19:09 PM)

I am finding irony in the statements made by people slamming other people for 'having no lives'.  I guess the definition for having a life is to post comments condemning others for having no life.

I am an accounting major who needs an outlet to write (writing is part of who I am).  I prefer to indulge in writing in a forum where I have feedback and interaction about a topic (bdsm) I am passionate about... shoot me.

Have any of you noticed that there are a number of people who spend so much time here (and other forums) dishing out advice based on their wonderful offline experiences.  They have 'wonderful' relationships - they say - but spend hours every day in a online forum.  Not only do they respond to every thread, they can even reference every thread that even hinted at the topic.

They are experts on every topic raised, and even if they aren't, they will add a comment to say they have no valid input, but express an opinion anyway.

They have time to repeat their point over and over again in many posts, while others add to the discussion ignoring these poor soles.

You have to wonder if they really have a life.

Perhaps a lot of these "people" work at home and have access 24/7( like I do).
Perhaps they have people who conduct business type things for them(Like I do).
Perhaps they sit there day after day getting pedicures and foot, leg rubs all day( Like I would love to have done).
Perhaps they can type really, really fast and are able to post a lot.
Perhaps they put notes in the MY FORUMS sections,so they can find them easily.
Perhaps it shouldnt really matter what someone else is doing and pay attention to thine self.
Perhaps these are just My opinions.
Perhaps you can take them with a grain of sand...or see the beautiful bottle they can become.

That is a gross generalization.  Not to mention, pretty derogatory!!! So what if it is "their" life... who cares.. and it affects you how?? and to slam *anyone* who may choose to spend *their* time however *they* see fit, is the only sad part i see in that statement.  ( Geesh people )

ElectraGlide -> RE: Who really is offline? (6/14/2006 11:57:15 PM)

I have noticed alot of locals on this site that seem to log on and off all the time and do not participate in the forums. It is fun even if you do not agree with anothers opinion. They are missing a valuable learning resource from reading post from experienced people with knowledge. They are missing the fun and joking around also.

VikingHouse -> RE: Who really is offline? (6/15/2006 12:04:29 AM)

I have to wonder how you managed an "Indecent" rating for posting so much when you only joined the site less than a month ago. Doth the kettle paint itself with tar?!
