I heard the best way to "watch" the debates is to actually WATCH them, as in turn the sound off. Body language tells a lot. Obama clearly won.

Interesting idea.
JG Ballard observed that there was quite a discontinuity between Raygun's body language and face and the drivel he was spouting back when he was the governor of California, didn't he?

There are people who discount body language completely, taking solely the words used. Discounting context by discounting non-verbal communication is just plain wrong.

There is also the reverse - listen, but don't watch. When one does that, Obama actually won both

Good Lord, get out of the Kool Aid!

Obama got his ass kicked left and right in the first debate. He won nothing that night.

In the second debate, he won handily, verbally and non-verbally.

Another way is to not watch, not listen, not read the transcript, but to just repeat whatever gets tweeted and emailed by the preferred partisan hacks, and verify it with biased discussion on biased channels, that only show the clips they like.
