Hi, Treasure.

Wave at Firm for me, and if you'd be so kind, tell him I've decided to blame him for my erroneous prediction on the thread. I'm not saying it's his fault mind you, just that I've decided to blame him. [;)]

Yeah. It has gotten ugly down here. I'm figuring out how to unblock people who were spamming the page with politics on Facebook, but around P&R, there was a permanent casualty or two. No loss.

Enjoy what time you have, when you pop in. [:)]

If you have the courage of your convictions about how the upcoming election will go, this is intended to be a consolidated location to be able to go back and find your predictions. Both for you, and for others.

After the election, I'd suggest that it would become the default place to eat crow and toss some light-hearted barbs. [8D] [:)]

So, here are my predictions:

1. Romney/Ryan in a landslide.
2. House gets more Republicans than it currently has.
3. Senate: not as confident here, but I'll go out on a limb and say it will become a Republican controlled body.

1. Romney/Ryan in a landslide. CAW! CAW! CAW! Urrghhhh !!!

2. House gets more Republicans than it currently has. Chump, Chump, mmmmm .... burrrrp!

3. Senate: not as confident here, but I'll go out on a limb and say it will become a Republican controlled body. "Past the mustard, please?" [:'(]

Popular vote of 52/47 Romney - wtf was I thinking?

Try soy sauce, heavily laced with wasabi.

A far as I'm concerned though, the same electorate that gave him another term also gave him a Republican House, with just as much mandate to oppose, as he has to push through.

1. Romney/Ryan in a close, but indisputable win. (Read a headline that both parties have already started lawyering up)
2. House stays R, and they may increase their majority.
3. Senate stays D, but barely.
If things play out the way I'm predicting, is it still going to be the House R's wasting time by not passing bills the Senate would pass?

Damn. 1 for 3.
I gave myself half-wins for #2 and #3 since the House and Senate indeed went to the parties predicted, but I was wrong that R's would pick up seats in both. From what I've seen, the House is less Republican and the Senate may turn out to be less Republican as well.

Bullshit ,the way I read that you went 0 for 3.
Anything other than that is just so much spin and bullshit.

Well, let's see, now. First, I said Romney would win. I was wrong. 0-1. Then, I said the House stays R and they may increase their majority. Is the House still R? Why, yes. Yes it is. Did the R's pick up seats? No. Thus, I was half-right (see how that works?). 0.5-2 Finally, I said the Senate stays D, but barely. Did it stay D? Yes. Yes it did. Was it close to not staying D? No. No it wasn't. Thus, another half-right prediction. 1-3

Now, let me get out my handy-dandy calculator.... 3 predictions.... two halves make one....

You need help adding, mike. Other than my predictions, I didn't crow much on here, so I don't have a lot to eat.

Well of course, Firm's intention of the thread was for civil, logical discourse.

The thread title conveys that most convincingly, no question.

Did you bother to read my OP, where I stated clearly the intent of the thread?

You friggin' mind readers ... but not so good with the printed word, eh? [8D]

Hey, no problem Rich. It was an interesting election, and the times over the next few years will be even more interesting.

I may have let a dollop of too much optimism about the basic fundamentals of the evolving American society get in the way of understanding that we have likely passed the 50/50 point in this phase of our civilization.

I think some of our religious opponents might have had a clearer view of us than many of us do of ourselves.

Ahh, well ... Treasure and I are young and productive enough to plan ahead, and started working on going galt about a year ago.

"Interesting times" ahead, indeed. [8D]

I'm not ready to call that one either, Firm, even from the People's Republic of California. I suspect we are going to see a working class backlash against the Obamaphone mentality folks, as the President once again overestimates his support and abilities.

(Presumably the op only intended to serve up that crow stuff to people who disagreed with him if the Kenyan lost, and anybody who voted for his candidate is excused the consequences the thread was meant to be set up for...)

I believe he and treasure will be on "vacation" for a few weeks.

(in reply to Moonhead)

Yep, and Moonhead was directing those comments to.....? Yep. Me.

Now, had DYB named those he was talking about, this wouldn't have happened.

I was paying you a compliment for having the backbone to admit that you were wrong about your predictions, and mentioned the OP who hadn't done so (he has since, which was a pleasant surprise) as an example of those who'd made similar predictions that proved completely incorrect and hadn't returned to own their words and accept the predicted "light hearted barbs".
Is that really confusing?

First, it's Lucas County, and now it's Ohio? Damn, man. You can't even keep the story on one path. I didn't know how Ohio was going to fall. I had hoped it wouldn't go blue again. Lucas County, I knew was going to be blue.

Now, am I just mad that you called the election right?

What then? Am I just mad that ________ (fill in the blank)?

I'm not mad. I'm just not happy Obama got re-elected. I will continue to call him my President, as much as I didn't want to do that.

Man, you are always mad. I can always count on that when coming here.

For the most part I've been on "vacation" for quite a few months now. I find the general tone of comments here in P&R to have become more or less... well, let's just say that due to some overriding (some might say loudmouthed) denigration by a select few posters on the liberal side, as a conservative I feel it is pointless to try to hold any meaningful conversation. Aside from that, I'm just too busy to spend time here commenting, though I do find a few moments here and there to read.

With regard to eating crow, you'll note that I did not post any predictions in this thread... so there was really no reason for me to post here otherwise. I've never alluded anywhere that I though Romney would win as I personally didn't think he would.

As far as Firm, he's extremely busy right now but I'm sure when he has time and feels like it, he'll be in to have his say. Meanwhile, feel free to make all the erroneous assumptions you want to about his intent, and disparaging remarks about how you believe he feels right now. I'm sure you'll all have a grand old time, as usual. [;)]

. Well I didnt include you as you can see from my statement. Since one says it is a good place to come eat crow I assumed the head crow eater would get his.....I see he has done so. No reason to get all upset.

Does that mean that I can count on you being smug simply because your picture gives that impression? No. It does not. You claimed to have told me how Lucas Co. would fall. You didn't. Had you told me it would fall blue, I'd have agreed with you. I already knew it would. Been here long enough to know. I mean, seriously, when you have a City that makes their choice of Mayors between A-Team Democrats an B-Team Democrats, without a real Republican running, how could you get any other idea that the County would fall blue?

When you were called on your bs of telling me how my County would vote, you shifted it to telling me how Ohio would fall. Yes, you said it was going to go blue. You do understand that, at its most basic, any guess between it falling red or falling blue gives one a 50/50 chance, right? You can claim to have known it was going to go blue, but there is no way to prove otherwise.

You have to try a lot harder than that to make me mad. You've done it before. You'll probably do it again (intended or not). But, I'm not mad that you were correct in your election predictions.

You said the House would increase their R majority, they didn't ,you lose. 0 for 2 ,so far
You said the R's would pick up a few seats in the Senate, they didn't,you lose. 0 for 3 ,final score.
Now you can spin it any old way you like, shit you can put a wig on that head and claim you have hair...I don't care....but I do know an 0 for 3 when I see one.

Obama wins (roughly the same margin as 2008)
Dems make significant pickups in the House (lots of tea party freshmen lose their seats), probably stays Republican controlled but by a very small margin.
Senate remains Democratic by about the same margin as today (+- 1 seat).

332 v 365 (I honestly forgot that Obama carried Indiana in 2008)
Dems pick up 7 with 9 races still oustanding.
Dems +2 in the Seante (I didn't think we'd win both ND and MT)

Funny how you can be so close to exactly right by just following polls and understanding math.

We agree that I was completely wrong on #1.

#2 and #3 each have two parts. Notice the use of commas in both Predictions. Clear separations. And, in both predictions, one part was correct and the other part was not.

Actually, I do have hair, but prefer to shave it off. Mother Nature has determined that my genetics will result in my having a Jean Luc Picard style, but I prefer the Professor X look.

You may need an eye check-up. I think you have an ideological astigmatism.

Wow....you used big words at the end of that post [8|]
You were trying to confuse me weren't you ?

Listen up,we were asked to make predictions, you in your run away egotism decided to make yours highly specific.
All good, someone does that they are clearly going for the gold, they want to be seen as wise and highly intelligent.
But there is a cost,in doing so you raise the bar in order to win.If I call my bookie and tell him the Giants are going to win and do so by 7 points...and the Giants win by 3....well if I tell my bookie I got half a win....he just might break half of my arms.
Understand now ?

Trying to confuse you? Just because a word has a lot of letters doesn't mean it's one that few would know. Intelligence has more letters and I expect everyone here to know what it means.

"Ideological" isn't a word I made up, some arcane, rarity. It's relatively mainstream. "Astigmatism" is a defect that, while it's true that not everyone might know exactly what it means, it's hardly incomprehensible. Shit. Did it again. Should I break things down by their syllables to make them more digestible?
