Do you remember the 2010 Congressional elections, where we were saying it was going to be historic? The Dem true believers just couldn't see it: they were living in their own little bubble.

This kinda has the same feeling, and has had for several months.

On that one, Firm, I was offering a bet at $5 or $50 a seat, over/under 40. Couldn't get any takers.

I wish I had your confidence, and maybe I'll get there between now and November 6, but I still can't get head, heart, and gut, all on the same page.

Nope. A last minute dirty trick needs to be big, and bold, and shocking. You'll know it when you see it, if it comes.

tazzygirl -> RE: Election Predictions/Eating Crow Thread (10/24/2012 6:35:59 PM)

Oh so that is fine by you. Ok.

No, Tazzy, it isn't. Neither was the union ad campaign out here in CA to try and scare people out of signing petitions.

This is the predictions thread, though, and I'll not help derail it again.

House stays Republican, Senate stays Democrat, but with a few very frightened ones in the mix.

After watching the disgrace the President made of himself and the office last night, I'm going to stick my neck out and say Romney will win the election, and by a margin only the biggest of douchebags will try to lie away. The Obama campaign may still have some dirty trick they are waiting to fling, but I'm putting my faith in the ability of the American people to see right through it, if it comes.

Cept`n ...... is wasn`t historic......

It was the most typical of mid-term/non presidential elections,save the fact that you cons didn`t win both chambers of congress.

The electorate left you cons with just one chamber of congress and us with the rest.......ie...... most of the power,ie you didn`t "win" that election.

I also recall a lot of dire warnings about how awful dems were going to suffer when you cons took all of congress......especially from the debate champ. .

Didn`t work out that way tho......champ.Did it? [:D]

Speaker boner can`t even keep the ts in line.

Let alone get a law passed.

Under J-boner`s leadership....congress has sunk to a single digit approval rating......

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I`ll point to '94' as the best parallel to today`s election.....
President Clinton, after winning his 1st election,  had an extreme and bellicose Newty and crew, winning control of the HofRs, in the mid-term election.....
That, was historic,in that America kept you cons OUT of control of the HofRs for nearly half a century.
To which two years later.........Clinton ran against Newt and his ilk after proved so embarrassing and becoming more and more unpopular.
The same thing is happening now......only with a much more extreme GOP agenda and very much out of control GOP Hof Rs.
lovmuffin -> RE: Election Predictions/Eating Crow Thread (11/5/2012 10:48:56 AM)
I have to say Romney wins. If you look back at 2008, Obama won with 53%. He's not even polling at 50% in most polls and as an incumbent that's a problem. Moat polls are overestimating democratic turnout. Obama isn't expected to get near the 2008 turnout and republican enthusiasm is through the roof. Independents are breaking for Romney by more than 10%. Obama has lost much of the female vote. And to top all that off consider the election of 2010. Why would I think that this election won't be worse for him ? I also think Romney wins Ohio.
All that said I'm still freakin out that Obama could win.
subrob1967 -> RE: Election Predictions/Eating Crow Thread (11/5/2012 2:06:50 PM)
Romney 305
Obama 233
Romney wins the popular vote by 8%
The numbers say one thing, the vibe says another, Firm, even out here in deep blue CA. I've had the most unexpected people comment that they won't be getting fooled again.
Bet is down. 52/47, Romney, in the popular vote.
Tick tock... Boom!
kdsub -> RE: Election Predictions/Eating Crow Thread (11/6/2012 9:16:41 PM)
I don’t think anybody should be crowing…Our country is divided right down the middle. There is a fair chance that the Presidency will be won without the popular vote.
3+ billion spent for little or no change… Just think where that money could have been spent.
There were no real winners… we the citizens, by our own hand, have shown we are still undecided what direction our country should be heading.
Four more years of a paralyzed congress is all we have to look forward to. If Romney had won we would have had the same. I was hoping for a voter mandate for one or the other.
Will there is always hope.
