Sixty-eight Nobel Prize winners in the science fields, including the two Americans who won this year’s chemistry prize, have signed a letter endorsing Mr. Obama over his Republican rival, Mitt Romney.

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/10/18/nobel-laureates-endorse-obama/

The letter...

https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/472355-an-open-letter-to-the-american-people.html

Two people who signed the 2008 letter but not this year’s are Steven Chu, a 1997 Nobelist in physics, and Dr. Harold E. Varmus, a 1989 Nobelist in medicine. That is because Mr. Obama is now their boss. Dr. Chu is the current Energy secretary and Dr. Varmus is director of the National Cancer Institute.

Seems the same endorsement was given in 2008. Not saying its a predictor, and I have no doubt some will demean the document. I just find it fascinating.

Yawn, who the fuck cares, we know how poorly the committee chooses it's winners.[8|]

Moonhead -> RE: Obama endorsements (10/21/2012 5:57:35 AM)

I wonder if he finds Henry Kissinger's Nobel as offensive as teh Kenyan's?

cloudboy -> RE: Obama endorsements (10/21/2012 7:59:37 AM)

Not sure that their endorsement will counteract AM Talk Radio.

kdsub -> RE: Obama endorsements (10/21/2012 8:17:48 AM)

Funny how things change…There was a time when Republicans were the champions of the scientific community and Democrats were complaining at all the money spent on science and industry and not enough on social issues.

True, America wants to know what idiots think... (biting tongue nearly off on the last two words)

Obama should frame the endorsement and display next to his Nobel Prize for Peace. ROFLMAO.

Owner59 -> RE: Obama endorsements (10/21/2012 9:14:44 AM)

The cons would be bashing the March Of Dimes if they gave the President an award.....

Amazing what nonsense Nobel winners sign, totally laughable. Perhaps they live in mathematically simulated World. Something is not right with the algorithm. Did they endorse GW Bush as well, he did not cut any science budgets. The science budget is actually not so big deal in total government expense picture. Proposed (Ryan's) cut (3.8%) does not bring a catastrophe (Nobel laureates should be able to do simple math). Besides, there is lot of waste in research spending, it should be reorganized anyway.

Looks like Obama also has Chavez, Castro and Putin in his corner.

Interesting bedfellows.[8|]
