The only example I can think of offhand is the techno Libertarian massive (mostly crap SF writers with a Heinlein fixation) spending most of the ten years following the first exploding shuttle blaming that on Carter, because he'd cut NASA's funding to plough it into welfare spending instead.
I always found that funny because you'd expect SF writers (if not libertarians) to know that it was Nixon who cut back on NASA's funding, and a Democrat (Kennedy) who started throwing stupid amounts of money at them in the first place.

Also (unless you count ridiculous nonsense like the SDI programme, which had nothing much to do with science or industry, and was more concerned with rewarding pork barrel contractors for faking test results) there was a lot more science funding under Clinton than there was under Reagan or either Bush. (Just look at the chimp's driving any medical research right to lifers might find objectionable out to Asia, for a start.) I think the whole Democrats h8 science/Replucians luuurve science thing is horseshit at least in living memory, and you'd probably have to go back before the start of the cold war to find a half decent example.

Mister Obama ....
he continuously apologizes for being an American to other countries.
he is a complete idiot.

Maybe he's worried that they think he's from Kenya as well?

I can't help but thinking that this not actually help Obama. After all the average American, who distrusts people of intelligence, will just feel like this is all the more reason to vote against Obama. (I could have said "vote for Romney", but I still have a hard time processing how anyone would actually vote for Romney.)

But am I surprised that intelligent people support Obama. Not at all....

This kind of dovetails in with the "anti-intellectual Americans" thread.

As a group, they are entitled to voice their opinions on the elections as well.

After all, if religious groups can come out for Romney, Intelligent men and women can come out for Obama.

well in that case, I think mister Obama should apologize for being in America... he does not belong here if he is continually apologizing to other countries. instead, I would like to have a president who is proud of being American and is not afraid to say it with sincerity.

In a different political culture, this endorsement would really have people saying, wow, we should really vote for Obama.

Especially if you consider how closely linked science and technology are to innovation, new business ideas, job and wealth creation. The ultimate value that scientists add to the economy, measured in both quality of life and dollars, is absolutely massive.

But sadly, in the U.S. these types of considerations are not important. "Those f**king smart elitist a**holes. I'm not voting for them."

Not to mention most scientists don't spend a lot of time worrying about the rights of sperm and eggs and fetuses. Those immoral f**kers.

A US citizen doesnt belong in America?

You have yet to say when and where he apologized.

Really ?
I hear this charge from time to time.
One idiot or another will repeat this blather...none of them can ever give actual quotes in which he apologizes for being American...but that doesn't stop the idiots.
Certainly didn't stop you

It's simple. People who are capable of independent thought and analysis of a situation are less likely to drink Kool-Aid.

Therefore, the extremist media (servers of said kool-aid) starts a hate campaign against them.

That still is not proof of his apologizing.

You are entitled to your opinion of him... and I am of my opinion of you.

I am just amazed at all the obama ads I hear on the radio and see on t.v. because most of them are not relevant or they are flat out lying. Great example would be here in florida they play an add that talks about a plant closing and in the smallest print as a disclaimer at the bottom it says this all happened before romney was even involved but they make it look like it was a direct action that was caused because of romney. Extremely misleading ad and very dishonest. The people who support those type of endorsements are funding lies and false accusations

You should apologize for these posts.
Not that I expect you to do so ,remorse, reflection and the impulse to be honest are indicative of intelligence...you have exhibited a lack of same.....hence no apology.
Have a nice day, please look both ways before crossing the street(p.s. don't chew gum while walking.....you will stumble and fall)
