Exactly! Had he tried some of the things we do now during our first session, it would have been called short and he would have never been spoken to again. Even after years together there were things that I didn't react well to. If he hadn't known me so well, he wouldn't have been able to talk me down off the ledge.

I am no expert and certainly no doctor.

From what I've seen on the Discovery channels, it's my understanding that it's very difficult to asphyxiate a person to death by accident. This is because it doesn't happen quickly. You have to keep blocking the airways for several minutes.

However, I think even short term oxygen loss can cause brain damage and other issues. Consult your doctor, of course.

When you see hangings, the person doesn't usually die first from asphyxiation but from a broken neck. Otherwise, yeah it can take a bit of time but not really that much time. You have to really know your partner so you know when enough is enough. When Master chokes me he knows me well enough to tell when he needs to let go. He becomes extremely focused. He also is aware of the carotid artery and what to do and not do. It's not his first time nor mine.

So personally, if the guy said he wanted to do this on a first date I would have to say forget it. We would have to be together long enough to know each other extremely well...I mean, extremely, extremely well.
