A much calmer tone, so far.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Debate #3 (10/22/2012 7:10:58 PM)

Give it time.

Owner59 -> RE: Debate #3 (10/22/2012 7:56:04 PM)

"In nowhere in the world is America's influence greater than it was four years ago"

Could someone decipher this statement for us?

Thanks in advance....

JanahX -> RE: Debate #3 (10/22/2012 7:58:41 PM)

Where the HELL is the extra 2 trillion dollars that Romney wants add to military spending coming from? Surely cutting PBS and Planned Parenthood doesnt come to 2 trill -

And since he frowns on borrowing -

Oh yes - maybe what he failed to mention is HIGHER TAXES. - But since he seems to think that middle class (250 K) is plentiful - that shouldnt matter. What the hell - He wants to create more jobs to raise taxes to spend on military, even though he talked about pulling the troops out of Afghanistan in two years.

I also loved the way Romney was all over the place. Jumping from this to that to this - and stating the obvious, like the five minutes he spent describing where Syria is - and he got that wrong. My favorite part was when he said - A Nuclear Iran is a dangerous Iran - I was like: no shit sherlock, why dont you tell the American people something they dont know.

LMAO @ Syria is Iran's only route to the sea. Guess he can't see the Middle East from his home in Alaska . . . oh wait. Wrong election. Sorry.

The extra $2 Trillion? Not a problem. He will simply pull it out of his arse.

Always. Right up through Mitt's excellent closing statement. He won this one, and nobody can claim the President was just having an off night.

Am I wrong, or did Romney win the coin toss in all three debates? There might be an omen there.

Toysinbabeland -> RE: Debate #3 (10/22/2012 8:10:48 PM)

He did win it three times

It's not hard to google the answer to that. From FactCheck.org:

"Romney would spend $2 trillion more than Obama over the next 10 years on the Pentagon’s base budget — which excludes war funding. But Romney won’t increase total annual defense spending as a percentage of gross domestic product compared with fiscal year 2012. Total defense spending includes money for the base budget and war funding."

In other words, Obama would use the money now spent on the war in Afghanistan for deficit reduction and/or non-defense spending. Romney would maintain the total level of defense spending, shifting war funds to the Pentagon’s base budget.

JanahX -> RE: Debate #3 (10/22/2012 8:14:00 PM)

Im sure he won if you speak Psychobabble. Romney couldnt even keep a linear thought let alone keep to the topic - going off on domestic shit. He started going off in left field talking about Poland - then back to Iraq - then how the president was missed by Israel and everyone noticed and was missed. I was like - wtf???

I swear to god - if I didnt know any better, Obama looked thoroughly amused and I though he was going to laugh. I know I was.

Obama got his tail kicked in the first one, returned the favor in the second one and the jury is still out for tonght but it doesn't look good for the Rommster in part 3. I mean did he think Iran was landlocked? REALLY?.

JanahX -> RE: Debate #3 (10/22/2012 8:19:26 PM)

So basically - higher taxes. Thats what I thought.

Well then why did Obama call out Romney on it and state that the military didnt even request the funding?

Number 3 was a complete dud.
I couldn't care less about "Syria!"
I could sit in front of the t.v., eat a steak and watch them slaughter each other in the street, and yes, the steak juice would drip down my chin!
Let that turd polishing "actor" George Clooney take care of Syria with his own money.
And I really don't want people in my govt. who I'm paying to take care of the U.S. wasting my time and money bothering with foreign countries.
Whenever anyone in politics in Washington says that the U.S. is the world's peacekeeper/ fire dept/rescue service ***"by default"*** then you know they're lying and will be using that statement as a reason(S) to do what (they) want to do and not what's neccessarily good for the country!
And as for "free trade" with Latin America Romney should know better! Their average pay is what,....$30 per week? WTF are they going to buy from us?
President Pantload is gone anyway. Just too many people who don't like/ hate/ can't stand him.
I think they were both wrong!
The BEST foreign policy is the LEAST foreign policy!

TheHeretic -> RE: Debate #3 (10/22/2012 8:25:09 PM)

Hi, Treasure. I thought Romney was spot on, and ready to talk about ideas, while the President only wanted to throw petty cheap shots.

America's influence hasn't increased anywhere in the world in the last 4 years. At least that's how I interpreted it.

I thought we got a nice mix, Popeye. A trainwreck, a brawl, and debate. Kudos to Bob Schieffer.

YN -> RE: Debate #3 (10/22/2012 8:29:22 PM)

Obama is ascendent in this debate, particularly regarding the stated topic of foreign policy.

Romney is appearing as not even familiar with geography, let alone who lives in other countries or what they might think or do.

JanahX -> RE: Debate #3 (10/22/2012 8:30:03 PM)

The message I got - was he wants to increase spending but not borrow - but yet didnt say where the money is coming from - and we all know what that means. I hope that if he gets into office - that everyone sets aside more money for their taxes. Because we sure as hell arnt getting any income from South America - LMFAO AT HIM FOR SAYING THAT.

What omen does losing one`s home state by 17% mean?

[:D]

Look how quick rich is trying to call winner.......[8|]

One tweet I saw went...Obama to Romneny....the '80's called and wants it`s foreign policy back".....[:D]

If Mittens won,how come I don`t feel like I did after the 1st debate?...........lol

I thought Obama turned in a lackluster performance. He didn't show himself to be any better than Romney, imo. Romney pretty much showed that he's about the same as Obama, in regards to foreign policy. That, however, is a win for Romney. People have knocked Romney on his lack of experience with foreign policy. If he's about the same as Obama, then, that question is moot.

I'm not sure where you got the "higher taxes" from. It certainly wasn't from the link I provided.

President Obama's comment is a political talking point aimed to mislead. It re-enforces the impression that Romney has suggested that $2 trillion be added to the current costs of our military. Again, Romney would maintain the total level of defense spending, shifting war funds to the Pentagon’s base budget.

Whether we can afford the current expenditures of our military is another question.
