anniezz338 -> Explicit Ads (10/24/2012 11:46:22 AM)

Am i the only one that has noticed that some of the ads on the other side are so explicit, it seems like they would break TOS. It's like watching bdsm porn.

punisher440 -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/24/2012 11:54:54 AM)

Since I view CM on minimized screen,I never see the ads, only the stuff on the left side of the screen. But you have to remember this is an adult site and those ads keep the site free. Some run ad blockers and don't see any if the ads...but you'll have to find out from the ones that have them which ad blocker works best.

ladynlord -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/24/2012 12:07:24 PM)

You are not the only one! I don't mind the explicit nature of the video... but the AUDIO comes blasting away when you least expect it. There are times when a vanilla is within earshot even though they can't see my screen. This was an issue once before here and CM took care of it. Hope they address these pop up videos soon!!!

littlewonder -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/24/2012 12:26:17 PM)

How else is the site supposed to run without profit? This really is a bdsm porn site by the standards of most people. If it wasn't you would be able to have it up on your screen without no one being shocked. You wouldn't have to hit t he minimize button every time someone walked by.

No way. BDSM ads on a BDSM website? I won't stand for it!

I've seen it more than once said that bdsm is not about sex, which i translate into porn. I'm not saying they shouldn't be running ads. Needing to make a profit is stating the obvious. But there is an ad on the other side like Kinky Carmen that gets pretty explicit and seems no different than some of the pics some people put on their profile. Just sayin

littlewonder -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/24/2012 12:45:28 PM)

They're not profiles. Different set of rules. There are ad blockers if they bother you.

PrincessBrienna -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/24/2012 1:01:49 PM)

I have nothing against CM running ads, we all have to make a profit, I have a local social network as well and I run ads because its free BUT I run SUITABLE ads that goes along with the lines of what my network is about AND the type of people I want to attract to my network! CM is supposed to be sort of a Match.com for BDSM right but would you see Match.com advertising porn sites? Any new member to CM would think this is a strictly hookup site.

I did advice the webmasters to create a category where members can check if they are looking to date or looking for play partners. That way they are separated, so CM can advertise their porn or porn like ads to such members. POF.com does that and it works for them, no one gets offended.

ladynlord -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/24/2012 2:22:05 PM)

I don't have any issue with the adds or their explicit nature at all....except for the Audio the pop up add blasts at Me. And if it had not been an issue that was addressed by CM in the past, then I would believe it is a like it or deal with it situation.

BDSM is about whatever people want it to be. There is no BDSM Oversight Committee to rule on what is or isn't BDSM. For some people there is no BDSM without sex involved, for others there is no overlap between the two.

tazzygirl -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/24/2012 4:06:48 PM)

Unless I am mistaken, it was not addressed by CM, but by members contacting the advertiser directly. Lucylastic mentioned this before.

It is quite possible I gave credit that was undeserved. Sorry! Thanks Tazzy!
I do know that it happened yet again when I logged on today.

Lucylastic -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/25/2012 5:08:06 PM)

I hate hate hate audio ads wether nilla or not... no issue with the actual porn...
I contacted the company the offending ad came from.
THey said they would change their ad.
Whether it was because of my email, I wont stroke my ego over it, but the company did stop the audio ads.
As one who has used ads on my own site( albeit just singular animated gifs kept on my server)
When you sign up with them, you dont get much of a choice as to which ads they run. I didnt see the point in CM taking flack over something they couldnt control without removing ALL the other ads by that company, which is revenue lost on their particular company.

absolutchocolat -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/25/2012 5:10:18 PM)

my adblock plus (on google chrome) is pretty good at catching most of the annoying ads

Lucylastic -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/25/2012 5:34:59 PM)

mine is tooo:)
I dont have any of the ads now

LizDeluxe -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/26/2012 5:44:55 AM)

I come straight to collarchat. I never see the stuff on the other side. You do make an excellent point, though.

yourdarkdesire -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/26/2012 7:06:58 AM)

That is one thing I love about working on my android tablet.....there are no pop ups at all. And I keep the volume turned off anyways, unless I need it.

ModTwentyOne -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/26/2012 10:44:44 AM)

As soon as we notified the technical team about the sound in the advertising (when it occurred a while back), they removed it. When the new popunder ad started, it was up for just a few minutes before sound was removed.

If anyone is still getting sound (I am not), please let us know, and what ad is coming up when you hear it. Thanks.

Many thanks from the two of us, and I am sure many more members are appreciative. You are right about CM taking the "flak" and a loss of revenue.

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/26/2012 4:16:02 PM)

Fast Reply-actually the sound has been back on with the pop under for quite a while. It was off for a short while afterwards. The sound IS with that ad. Support has already forwarded it to the technical team, and they are aware of it. I know its an inconvenience, and sympathize, but in the meantime, if possible, you might want to mute the site till after you enter it, if it is around the time that the ad will come on, then re-enable sound after you close the window. I know is not the most convenient solution, but the ad is only supposed to be sent to you once every 24 hour period. Again, my apologies, but it appears that other good advice has been given previously in this thread. :)
