No it doesn't. He has been out of the loop for 8 to 10 years now.

and we know that this comes from an expert on "out of the loop".
Your expert testimony on things like this is much appreciated.

If experience counts for anything,Servant is indeed an expert on "out of the loop "
Just sayin......

I wish Powell had run for Prez.

Me too. I think he is too smart to do it. I also seem to recall his wife not thinking it was a very good idea.

Me too.

Can we hope he will in 2016?

Eh. Never mind. The republican party is so over the edge they would never nominate him.

Ya know what? No matter who wins....that's my President, as Gore should have been.

Let's just pray that if one side wins more votes than the other, as Gore did....that the electoral college doesn't carry the day.

And if it does....I hope all you dumbasses who actually believe your vote means something....stands up and changes the gig.

The way things stand in the polls right now, it is not inconceivable that we don't have an electoral college tie. And with it, a slim possibility that neither Obama nor Romney become president, but Boehner!!!

How an electoral college is decided in the House, with each state getting 1 vote. Most states would probably vote for whomever the popular vote in their state chose--which would make Romney president. However, some House delegations might vote for "the other guy". It could come down to a House of 25/25--in which case neither wins the presidency but that office would go to the Speaker of the House.

The Senate then would vote on who would become vice president, with each senator getting 1 vote. A tie in the Senate would be decided by the sitting vice president. I don't imagine Biden would willingly give up his position no matter who the House voted for in such a circumstance.

And this, my follow Americans is why politics is so much fun.

Well, that is largely correct however, having stated that he's a Republican, having (now, publicly) voted for Obama (who is anathema to the Republican viewpoint), he's either stated that he doesn't believe in the Republican platform (ergo, he's a liar knowing his service record) or, as a Republican, voting for Obama, now twice, having served for Bush Jr (and Sr), he's a racist.

The guy couldn't be elected dog catcher in a small county today.

Since his policies are the same as his predicessor it would apper that the "anathma" is something other than policy...what ever could it be???

Or perhaps he voted his conscience and voted against "ace mccain "who promiced to continue the war in the sand box and expand it to iran.

The really weird thing is that the reactionaries who are coming out with all of that sort of sheep and goats "if'n you ain't wit' us you're agin' us an' need shewtin', yeehah!" talk are often the same ones who blather about partisan liberals. How the fuck does that one work? That's not so much a double standard as a looming multiple personality disorder...

No, dear. I went to an expensive public* school in England, and was taught to speak like Peter Cushing.

~fr~

Am I the only person who thinks that many see ANY criticism of Obama as racist?

In fact, I don't think it, I know it for a fact.

I tone my diction down when I'm dealing with heathens who can't spell "colour" or pronounce "aluminium", snookums.

Man, I wish Powell had run, too. I don't know that I would vote for him, but I don't think I'd mind too much if won, either.

It's like... if Huntsman had won the Republican primary, I'd still probably be voting for Obama but I wouldn't be too worried if he lost. That was a very reasonable, moderate man with real foreign-policy experience and no crazy-talk that I ever heard.

Hopefully something is going to happen soon that will make the Republican base return to a more moderate position. They've got to realize at some point that some mutant chimera of Pat Robertson, Dick Cheney and Ayn Rand is not actually what the American public wants or needs.
