cloudboy -> What is the Republicans' plan? (10/27/2012 7:29:27 PM)

Reposted in honor of L&M who said:

I really don't get it.

Their plan for health insurance is Don't get sick (and die quickly if you do).

Their plan for social security is Let's not have social security.

Their plan for the national education system is Let's give everybody vouchers that they can use at private schools instead.

Their plan for the federal deficit is Let's hold the nation's credit rating hostage by threatening not to raise the debt limit (even though Congress had already approved the deficit spending that was at issue). Remember that little caper last summer?

Their plan for job-creation is Let's keep giving tax breaks to billionaires and banks and oil companies, because they're the job-creators (even though we're going on eleven years of this now, and I'm afraid I don't see the jobs that they were supposed to create).

I'm trying to be open-minded, but why does 40+% of the population want to see more of this?

They have done a real good job of tapping into white fear...and exploiting it for all it's worth.

While Obama has squandered the white guilt he had in such great supply, last time around.

Cloudboy, the plan is to govern according to a paradigm that doesn't assume government is the default answer to every ill that ails us.

tazzygirl -> RE: What is the Republicans' plan? (10/27/2012 8:26:26 PM)

Isnt it amazing how they only worry about that assumption when the economy is bad?

slvemike4u -> RE: What is the Republicans' plan? (10/27/2012 9:07:51 PM)

I was told a long time ago that Republicans run on the platform that government is always bad...and than go about proving that once elected [:)]

Sounds like a paraphrase of something PJ O'Rourke wrote. You wouldn't like the rest of it.

Seeing as I won't be staying up for it...run with it [:D]

tazzygirl -> RE: What is the Republicans' plan? (10/27/2012 9:20:55 PM)

The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work, and then they get elected and prove it.

Nah. I need to pack. Good luck with the storm.

I actually like that....while it isn't really possible that I could be any smarter....everyone wants to be taller right?

I hear the latest plan change has to do with November 6th itself.
Cancel the catering at the Ritz and contact SubWay.

Funny thing is, left-wing policies like public schooling, nutritional assistance, labor laws, etc over the last century have actually made American society smarter (or at least better educated), taller and richer. Didn't do anything about the lawn, though. [:D]

Except of course for:
Women's health care decisions
Gay people getting married or raising kids
Transferring huge piles of cash to 'defence contractors'
Putting poor people in prison for an ever broadening variety of 'offences'
Preventing any sort of protest against big business or their government

All that and more will be the role of government under the GOP. Kind of puts the lie to the small limited government claims. They simply want a big expansive government that does the things they like.

They're easily persuaded that it's somehow patriotic, that the empire is in mortal peril, and that the safety of their children depends on voting against their own self-interest.

To answer the titular question, the Republican Party believes that the only problem this country has is that rich people don't have enough money, and that the only solution to this country's lone problem is to give them more and protect them from those lazy poor people who always seem to want some of it so they can just piss it away on food for their chidlfren or some shit like that. So the plan is to give the wealthy as much tax money as they think they can get away with.

If you're hearing voices from God then you're probably in need of psychiatric treatment.

If you're obeying those voices from God and feel that others should do the same then you're a Republican.

As I said.....they have done a tremendous jb of tapping into white fear [8|]

Fellow -> RE: What is the Republicans' plan? (10/28/2012 9:22:08 AM)

There is a plan but you do not qualify to know what the real plan is. There is a phenomenon "continuation of the government": whoever gets into the White House, one should expect pretty much the same. Obama is in reality (what Obamabots fail to notice) a continuation of GW Bush: (wars, attack on civil liberties, enriching the top income earners, deficit spending for supporting poor).
The general idea the government wants to do do something really good for the people is false. Romney is a plutocrat and Obama is a plutocrat. I would assume anybody with functioning brain would stay home Nov 6-th.

subrob1967 -> RE: What is the Republicans' plan? (10/28/2012 9:30:03 AM)

Their plan is to run a better campaign than Obama and win the Presidency.

The plan is working... 9 days... Tick tock.
