The folks Ive met face to face here were from a combination of browsing profiles/getting messages from women who found my profile and chatting.
It was kind of funny that one of the old chatrooms had 5 regulars that were within about a 15 mile radius and I live in a REMOTE fucking area.

I met one woman from her profile, and we got to chatting. Eventually, she moved here from Alabama.

I met several women who liked my posts, and we chatted. One actually tried a trial with me. We're still good friends.

I met a few others from their profiles, and we met but didn't click.

And I met several with no intention of anything beyond friendship, and nothing ever happened past that.

In my case, she liked my poetry put in my journal. I now write something daily for her, a small thought or poem or inspiration to make her day a little brighter. It's a lovely argument for just being yourself!

Mostly they found me. Liked my profile, sent a message, we talked and then coffee.

A couple led to dates, although they didn't work out in the long-term for various (non-kinky) reasons.

Master sent me a message. We chatted for several months, then decided to meet for a half-hour coffee, which turned into 2 hours. That was 2 years ago, and next year we're moving in together [:D]

I was going to a training seminar for work, 2 days, in a city about 100 miles away. Browsed profiles, found hers a challenge, emailed her, e-mailed back and forth a bit. Made a dinner date, second date a week later, the rest it history.

Those who have successfully gotten My attention on CM originally messaged Me to INTRODUCE THEMSELVES and actually invested in a conversation (rather than just saying "Hello" or listing off their fetishes as if I'm the local Chinese take-out---those get ignored).

I first spotted my owner years ago, posting on the CM forums. I was just blown away by the very first post of hers that I read, and was fascinated by her profile. I followed all of her posts, and every one of them sounded as though she was writing about my own heart and soul. I'd never come across anyone who felt so completely right and so completely compatible, and so completely perfect.

I eventually wrote her an e-mail over on Fetlife; she responded very sweetly, and started paying more attention my posts. More e-mails, chatting... then more e-mails... a plane ride.... more plane rides... these last couple of weeks, we've been shopping for a permanent collar, and I'm pricing moving truck rentals. And even though this wasn't where we started writing to each other, the profiles we both put up here years ago, and the posts we made in the forums, were where it all started.

I'm just glad I replied to his email. I wasn't replying to most of them then.
