One problem that I've observed here on Collarme is that lots of people get very inappropriate responses to their profiles. This causes LOTS of subs to disappear within a day or two because they are swamped with hundreds of responses (along with lots of nasty responses). Much of this could be averted by allowing a person placing a profile to target folks who they want to read the ad ... and filter out folks who would automatically be inappropriate. A person placing a profile should be able to select: a) an age range s/he is interested in hearing from ... this would eliminate the geezers writing to 20 yr olds who only want a 24 yr old Dom/me (for example). One should be able to check multiple boxes in some fields ... so a person could check an interest in somone 20-25, 26-30, 31-40, but NOT check 41-50 etc (for examples) b) the age range of the folks s/he is interested in hearing from. Not everyone wants poly, or married or separated. c) select a height range ... or check off a selection of heights a person is interested in. The search currently filters for folks "minimum height" ... but I like 2 types of women ...either very tall ... or very short. In between is fine ... but if I'd have my druthers, I'd pick the 2 extremes ... that's just me ... but am sure lots of folks have height preferences. I've seen lots of women looking for men who are very tall. d) select a weight range. I've a simple rule that works for me ... I won't consider someone who outweighs me (because I know she's also shorter than I am). And there are lots of females who are looking for trim males as well. Then ... there are lots of folks who prefer someone a bit heftier. e) select a state, a few local states, or a region where we'd be willing to relocate to or search for a person in. I've had lots of folks "willing to relocate" but THEY mean across town ... NOT 5 states away. The current system is too non-specific. The current search function allows us to search for folks by interests ... it would not be that difficult to add a few fields to allow us to check off a few heights, a few weights, marital/single/poly status, a few ages, & a few states (or areas) that we would be interested in. And it wouldn't be that difficult to make our profiles invisible to folks who are outside of our interest group. AND it would be quite easy to put in a box to select: Do you want your profile visible to everyone? Or just to folks within these parameters? I'd also suggest a warning to new subs &/or females who sign up ... that if they are swamped with emails, that they should select these filters so they are hidden to everyone outside of their interest group. And ... the "hidden" function already exists ... most of this is already functional ... it just needs to be expanded a little. I'm sure someone has the stats on how many subs & females sign on & disappear after a day or 2 with full mailboxes. I've also observed a lot of newbie subs/slaves complain of obnoxious & rude responses ... it should be easier to report folks sending abusive notes ... and after so many complaints, those persons would lose privileges. Granted SOME subs like abusive notes ... perhaps THEY could have a check box inviting that!? But too many newbies are being driven away from CM by the deluge of emails within 5 minutes of signing on ... most inappropriate ... and the handful of abusive notes that sour them on this site. I'm sure there are some points I've overlooked ... I'm sure 200 of you have more improvements on these suggestions. I just thought I'd put in some feedback to try and get some more improvements. Collarme has improved a lot over that last 4-5 years ... but there's always room for more improvement. I have no need to debate these points & I probably won't follow this thread. Just getting a ball rolling & perhaps the folks who have the decision making powers can do something with my suggestions & those produced in this thread. If change comes, I hope it will be for the better.

The only thing I would really add to the short list you've already compiled, Doc, is an expansion of the choices available for personal orientation. Currently, there are only a few choices, and those don't necessarily fit all of us who use this site. Rather than only having dominant, submissive, slave, and switch - they really need to add Top and Bottom as strictly SM choices, for those not interested in ds aspects.

i'd like weight range. since i want a big gal with lots of cushion for the pushing. instead of state how about milage range from zipcode. a where the heck is that button? click on their location and it opens up mapquest for you. A hide profile i've found a master button. so that all these already found collar people who just wanna chill can.. this would solve the i get unwanted email problem.. fairly quickly if everyone had that button.

I very seldom block people, but when I do, I would like the ability to not see them or have them see me... I'm technologically challenged, so don't know if that is possible on forum side, but would love the capability. M

One area in need of improvment is "sexual orientation" , specifically the bisexual choice should be split into a) bisexual or b) bi-curious . Bisexual gives the impression one is when that is not always the case. This leads to people overlooking those listed as bisexual who may be a possible match when they are only bi-curious. H&M

i greet everyone with either a joke or have a super duper fantabulous day and the responses are the gammit of go fuck off to thanks you have brightened my day to wanting to get to know me more to never hearing from them i have a lot of people which i have had nice chats with and some i have had nice chats with and they end after a while and some wonder what has happened to me when they email me back on this site wondering what i have been up to the response of just letting it slide if u have no interest in chatting or getting to know someone is also a good one but as they say never judge a book by its cover remember to drink xs energy drink over red bull which will have u crashing

While there are a few updates and changes I'd make to the functionaility of CollarMe, I'd be more concerned about the aesthetic issues it faces. CollarMe -on averge- presents more information than it needs to, and thus, the typical pages are filled with boxes, sections, and text that may overload a novice browser. Simplicity is the best policy. With some layout and graphical reform, CollarMe could have a much more welcoming and 'professional' appearance. Professional in the sense that it is a site that can be relied on for its stability. The only functional changes I would consider pressing issues would be the need to update and assimilate this open source forum to fit in better with the actual CollarMe website; and the common glitches in searching where a member will be seen on the listing, and vanish after a page refresh. If anyone at the top of the food chain is listening, I'm always open to make more detailed suggestions, if you're interested. ((PS: There are some things the CollarMe administrators can do, and many more things they can not. The suggestions to stop the rude messages and have more replies to the messages sent are prety much impossible.))

ADomDoc: Good Lord!!! Why don't you just ask that collarme find your sub for you....all the damned checkboxes and prescreening.....unbelievable. None of your suggestions will stop the dorks from deluging the new subs...they will do it no matter what you do, as Tigger is wont to say...it's what dorks do best. I really am amazed at how much of your search you appear to want collar me to do for you. I hope they don't institute any of your suggestions, I like browsing the profiles, not to email everybody with a proposition, in fact the majority of the emails I send have nothing to do with propositioning people, but rather they are relating to something in the profile that caught my eye. hizgeorgiapeach: Top & Bottom...whatever for, why not just use dom and sub, this pigeon-holing is ridiculous in my opinion, and there really is no need for more categories. If you are not interested in D/S, then just say so in the profile text...really pretty simple. zero69u2: - Not a bad isea really, making weight a searchable criteria. - The mileage isn't really all that important, and there are many who don't want to define their location that precisely in their public profile. and the mapquest button is unworkable for the same reason...and just plain lazy as well. -The hide profile I've found a master button....ridiculous....why should those who have a master hide their profiles? Bound4me: Same response as to the Top/Bottom....why complicate things....by listing oneself as bisexual it indicates that one is open to approaches by members of both sexes, which is all that is needed. BitaTruble: Yeah, it certainly WOULD be nice. I think that would be a great addition, and it can't be all that hard, as many forums have that feature already.

I'd prefer the sex orientation to be expanded to show bi and bi curious, probably height and weight depicted in both imperial and metric, but in reality, just how hard is it to show all these things when you design your profile?? It would be easy to compile a list which would double the selection menues in any case. yet the most attractive profiles I have read are those which expand in the areas which the person in the profile wants me to read to get a better picture of her as a person and then as a possible sub or slave or for that matter Dominant. If it's important I have seen the addition of comments that the person is either bi curions rather than bisexual.. I appreciate it when I see the religious orientation of some one for at least I don't put my foot on my mouth or have to ask some where down the line. (Both Neets and I state that we are a pagan home but we don't expect any one to follow our beliefs just accept them as our choice.)

I guess i can see how this may work for the timid ones. Personally, if a person leaves because they are infused with so many e-mails and they can't deal with the mirage of people who have no manners. They just need to grow a spine. Happy Thursday! ~smilezz~

I agree with smilezz, and would add, that in my opinion, placing an ad in any "personals" venue, is much like posting a want ad seeking employees. Regardless of how specific one is...there will always be those who are completely unqualified/unsuitable applying for the job. Since we are online , it's far too easy to just ignore...or politely decline. I persoanlly can't imagine rude emails or comments by people on the other end of a keyboard "driving me away" from somewhere i choose to be. I also believe that collarme could streamline a bit and offer options to eliminate superfluous information, and change format regarding the home page ..

Search criteria is cool, but if I had restricted my criteria to that of what I "thought" I wanted in my life.... let's say a man, 6' 2" & eyes of blue... well I wouldn't be in the absolutely perfect relationship I am in now. The reason the new people are swamped is because the site allows the users to set their search to a "new members" view thus targeting all the new accounts. This feature is grouped on the left of your homepage along with the tabs that allow you to view admirers, favorites & blocked members. I say get rid of this feature so that new members have a chance to get their feet wet & try the waters before the site-sharks sense fresh meat in the pool.

G'morning all: ADD, you might want to heed kiska's advice and utilize that filter for the in box. I get a bit ticked when people don't appreciate just how much work goes into this site that you use gratis. Running, maintaining a free (for users) website is not cheap. I'm sure the usual suspects can find the appropriate links to the various rants about it, I'm just too lazy to do so. BT, Arpig, you already have that feature. Simply click the person's nic and it pops up their profile. You can email from there. Heck, I'm no web guru and I found that out just by mousing over and experimenting. marie, all threads. You'll see their post truncated to a blank box. But then you'd be missing some of the truly amusing silliness. Why would you deprive yourself of that joy? snickers No offense folks, but for whatever you hold holy, instead of ranting, experiment. I have been on the site since right after it opened. I recall when the number of people in my area would only fill one page in the search results... this included everyone in the state, all ages, all orientations, all genders & all roles. In all this time the only thing that I would have liked to see added was a feature that would allow us to follow up on email. A way to either save it as new, flag for follow-up or a saved mail folder. So many of the women on this site have brought up the fact that they receive massive amounts of mail. It only stands to reason that some of the really good mail might get lost, overlooked or completely buried. Sure we could exchange email addresses outside of CM, but I truly prefer to keep my email exchanges here. NO SPAM, NO WORMS & NO VIRUSES. I am sure everyone is aware of the recent worm that hit yahoo. I don't see something like that being an issue here.

Hmmm ... here's a thought ... eBay scores sellers & buyers according to # of satisfactory (or bad) transactions. Everyone can look up a seller's or buyer's score to see if that person plays nice with others. We can't list the names of the abusive people on Collarme ... BUT ... we COULD give a person a good score or a bad score ... on a scale of 10? or 5? or 100? No doubt everyone would get the occasional bad score ... there's always somebody who has something to bitch about. But the folks who have a bad score of 1000 sure would become less popular ... and it would become a warning sign for newbies. I avoid eBay like the plague ... but am sure there's some sort of similar scale that would work. I'll leave the exact scoring points to someone who it would make a difference to, to come up with.
