Hey Panda,

Thanks for stepping up man, I really appreciate that. It is unusual that so few do.

Wonder what the motivation is for so many posters are here to trying to tear me apart, tear the links apart, tear the way they were presented a part.

Yall are not anymore 'in the know' or have 'the truth' so we are all on the same page, trying to see what the truth of things is.

These agnostic/atheist threads are usually so very tiring. Fine if one does not believe, up to you. Freaking zealots.

I notice with threads of any sort of esoteric essence, rarely if ever do they get a chance to evolve because immediately someone shows up and slam dunks the credibility of the topic. I have seen this happen ad nauseam. Freaking rednecks.

Recognizing red necks and zealot behavior is a handy skill. I stand by my very valid posts but I would leave off the name-calling at this stage in my life. See? A fine example of a progression in human growth!

(Thanks for dredging up my past pearls of wisdom.)

Amazing that people who absolutely refuse to believe we can be changing the climate by massively altering the environment over two hundred years (because, yano, it's impossible that human effects could alter something so, well, global,) can readily believe someone can artificially manipulate storms with more energy than the world's generating capacity.

I guess it all depends who's the bad guy in the story.

OP: Are you seriously suggesting that...

(I can`t believe I actually get to use this phrase)

Hurricane Sandy was an Inside Job

??????????????

I can honestly say with all sincerity...

I watched for days the reports and news clippings... the photos and testimonials...

Sandy was definitely outside.

tazzy tazzy tazzy (shakes head)

Outside? Nah, that`s what they WANT you to believe.

That`s the oFISHull story. You don`t buy THAT do ya?

That weather network stuff? They did the `live footage`on a soundstage in Burbank (just like the `moon landing.` Green screen. Special effects.

Disney (or `Big Mouse`) just bought Lucasfilm. The 4 billion was for the company...AND the hush hush SFX work. Like in that documentary `Wag the Dog`.

Ya heard it here first, folks. For IIIIIII ammmmm the Truuuuuthbearerrrrrrr!

It is too funny. I wanted to post that Lucas, Speilberg, Cameron were just licking their chops on this one.

Moonhead -> RE: Was this planned as they say for the election etc? (11/1/2012 6:16:52 AM)

To be fair, given how dreadful those prequel flicks were, I can't see whatever the Mouse does for the new ones being any worse...

Lucas, Spielberg & Cameron...

Licking their lips about the Lucasfilm sale (ie making a crapton of money)?

Or about working on that BigMouse-Illuminati-USGov conspiracy whatsit I wrote above above?

Whichever. Spielberg & Cameron didn`t get a dime of that. The three of them own (or started together I guess: who knows who has since bought in?) Dreamworks.

Lucas owns--owned--100% of Lucasfilm. So, now, 100% of 4.05 billion dollars. At least according to the official press release. And now we`re back to that òfficial story`thing.

Apparently Lucas plans to start a charitable foundation similar to the one Bill Gates and Warren Buffet did.

= = =

Now, heartcream. Since I`ve quoted you I`ll get back directly addressing your OP.

You`re right that it`s important to have an open mind about new ideas. And, particularly here, we shouldn`t be so quick to judge.

But when presented with a new idea (and we get 100 or 1000 a day; factor in commercials) we need a good basis for assessing them critically. We can`t research each in detail. So here are a few basic ways I approach a new idea:

Is it a claim that fits the worldview I`ve already built? (each aspect of which has presumably already passed each of these steps)

If it does, I accept it provisionally (subject to later proof that it`s not the case; mind still open). If it doesn`t, I proceed to the next steps.

How big a change would it require to that worldview? How many bricks in my wall of reason would I have to move or remove?

Small changes need some convincing evidence. Big changes need a LOT of convincing evidence. Èxtraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Consider the source of the info. How well do you know them? Where did they get the info and how reliable is THAT source? Have they been reliable in the past?

= = =

There`s more, but I`ve gone on way too long already. (May not seem like it, but I typed then removed a chunk. Big...and incomplete)

Judged against the considerations above and the rest of my list, the idea that President Obama had secret weather change technology secretly applied to Hurricane Sandy (would have been a massive effort, even if feasible) such that the Hurricane was pushed inland and destroyed a chunk of the country`...this idea fails the tests.

Occam's razor (also written as Ockham's razor, Latin lex parsimoniae) is the law of parsimony, economy, or succinctness. It is a principle stating that among competing hypotheses, the one that makes the fewest assumptions should be selected.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_razor
spacecraft is much much smaller.

Hey I wish for the best of our leaders all over the planet. I wish they had our common good in mind but if you look closely that is certainly not the case is it?

Let us look back to the first war with Chris Columbus showing how our leaders and men meant to be doing good are in fact up to no good. I hope Obama is good, I hope Romney is good but are they good? Not convinced, wish I was but um, I remain unconvinced.

Native American Genocide

Genocide or the deliberate extermination of one ethnic group by another is not new, for example in 1937 the Pequot Indians were exterminated by the Colonists when they burned their villages in Mystic, Connecticut, and then shot all the other people — including women and children — who tried to escape. The United States Government has refused to ratify the U.N. convention on genocide. There are many facets of genocide which have been implemented upon indigenous peoples of North America. The list of American genocidal policies includes: Mass-execution, Biological warfare, Forced Removal from homelands, Incarceration, Indoctrination of non-indigenous values, forced surgical sterilization of native women, Prevention of religious practices, just to name a few.

By mass-execution prior to the arrival of Columbus the land defined as the 48 contiguous states of America numbered in excess of 12 million. Four centuries later, it had been reduced by 95% (237 thousand). How? When Columbus returned in 1493 he brought a force of 17 ships. He began to implement slavery and mass-extermination of the Taino population of the Caribbean. Within three years five million were dead. Fifty years later the Spanish census recorded only 200 living! Las Casas, the primary historian of the Columbian era, writes of numerous accounts of the horrendous acts that the Spanish colonists inflicted upon the indigenous people, which included hanging them en masse, roasting them on spits, hacking their children into pieces to be used as dog food, and the list continues.

This did not end with Columbus’ departure, the European colonies and the newly declared United States continued similar conquests. Massacres occurred across the land such as the Wounded Knee Massacre. Not only was the method of massacre used, other methods for “Indian Removal” and “clearing” included military slaughter of tribal villages, bounties on native scalps, and biological warfare. British agents intentionally gave Tribes blankets that were intentionally contaminated with smallpox. Over 100 thousand died among the Mingo, Delaware, Shawnee and other Ohio River nations. The U.S. army followed suit and used the same method on the Plains tribal populations with similar success.

Show me some cold, hard, data from a nationally recognized science institute to uphold your conspiracy and I might believe it. So far all I've seen are from the conspiracy nutso sites online.

Anyone else ever notice how bdsm seems to attract a lot of people who are conspiracy theorists or newageists, atheists, and any other alternative community?

Yes, and what of it?
Any minority interest is going to do that, particularly ones which encourage people to feel smug about said minority interest, and you only have to look at the weal and twue lobby to see how big a stick some lifestylers won't shut up about having stuck up their arses.
The real trouble starts when what Mister T used to call "fools" insist on finding connections between their fantasies (and John Norman is far from being the only politically vile source for BDSM fiction) and real world politics. That's pretty much a given, and is unlikely to escape the notice of anybody who's read more than a couple of threads in here...

Have scientists discovered how to create downpours in the desert?

I came here today to post for interest sake, for people who might be interested in what links are here. Some of you come in accusing me of having too many drinks or whatever, and then stamping your foot I MUST proves something or other. I owe you no explanation, nor care what you think really.

Seeding clouds with crystals is old news. One has to wonder at the practicality of the technique where there is little water in the air.
At least 30% humidity is required.
Since it is a coastal state I wonder why it doesn't rain more often.
Did I miss that explanation in the article?

Hillwilliam -> RE: Was this planned as they say for the election etc? (11/2/2012 9:38:17 AM)

The article says there must be sufficient humidity.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Was this planned as they say for the election etc? (11/2/2012 9:49:21 AM)

There's an enormous difference between trying to kickstart a local rain storm and creating or even steering a 1000+ mile wide hurricane.

Let's examine the energy involved in an average hurricane. http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/D7.html

Energy released: "This is equivalent to 200 times the world-wide electrical generating capacity - an incredible amount of energy produced! "

The kinetic energy alone that is released on a continuous basis is equal to half the world's output of electricity.

Trying to 'steer' something like that would be like a mouse holding his little paw up and saying "stop" to a speeding automobile.

Once it gets rolling, it is going to go where it chooses when it chooses to go there.
The alleged "Aerosol releases" in the video (there was no evidence they were anything to do with aerosol releases) were in some cases 150 miles wide. How are you going to get that many millions of gallons of a substance into the upper atmosphere? No planes exist with that kind of payload.

Uh, yeh. I noted that 30% humidity is required. My question was why does a land get so little rainfall so close to the sea? You have been to the beach. You know what happens. The hot sand warms the air above it. The air rises and creates a low pressure area, allowing sea air to move in. So, I wonder what limits the rainfall and promotes desertification in Abu Dhabi. Just curious.
