Uh, yeh. I noted that 30% humidity is required. My question was why does a land get so little rainfall so close to the sea? You have been to the beach. You know what happens. The hot sand warms the air above it. The air rises and creates a low pressure area, allowing sea air to move in. So, I wonder what limits the rainfall and promotes desertification in Abu Dhabi. Just curious.
I'm gonna take a wild assed guess and say that the prevailing winds are offshore instead of onshore. This would blow dry air over the sea instead of bringing moist air over land.
Look at Baja Mexico and the Namib desert of Africa. 1200 miles long and right ON the coast.
