Mike, there isn't a doubt in my mind that the President and his re-election team (you know, the same guys who were making the national security decisions when our ambassador was being murdered by al Qaeda terrorists in Libya?) have been waking up in a cold sweat every night since it was known that Sandy would hit, terrified that someone might find a way to say that "Barack Obama doesn't care about white people."

Calling governors multiple times over the day is not effective use of the President's time, nor is it a commendable view of his executive abilities.

And would anyone think President Obama was on the phone to Christie 3 times in a day, out of a sudden concern for New Jersey? He's in dead tie in a world where undecideds mostly break to the challenger. Like the dumbasses who stayed to watch the waves, all he is trying to do now is keep his head above water.

Yeah, couldn't possibly be that the President is simply executing on his job by making sure that the Governor who needs the resources at his disposal most available to his state in the hour of need. No sir, there's GOT to be some deeper mystery.
Were I crafting a whopper like the one above, I would have at least throw in a UFO or two for color.

I am back, Mike. A very nice 3-day drunken anniversary celebration in Las Vegas. Very little news, no internet service, and lots of surf and turf. It does wonders for the spirits.

I did get the picture of a shark swimming along a street in NYC (assuming it wasn't a well done fake).

It only seems that way, Mike, because I haven't been around to piss in the kool-aid for a couple days. I'm sure lots of likeminded libs would find the stuff much tastier if all the conservatives went away, and ya'll could just agree with yourselves in an isolation bubble.

Or it just might be, as other commentators have speculated, that the Gov is just a true to the heart Jersey boy who is genuinely pained by the destruction of the Jersey Shore ~ the "mythical heart of the state."

Maybe he really had no political agenda other than being a damn good governor...

I have to go along with that. Christie has a job to do and if a resource is available, get it.

Whether one has a cynical take on Christie's new found Obamalove, or a benign one, some facts remain unchanged:
1. Christie is doing the right thing by his State - millions of his voters need help urgently and that is his priority #1;
2. It doesn't hurt Christie's longer term ambitions by appearing 'Presidential' in the midst of a crisis and crossing the partisan divide now; and
3. Obama's response to the crisis has been lauded by all sides. Memories of Bush and Katrina make Obama look anything but Oblunder.

In passing we might note how Fed aid and Fed bureaucracy have responded to the crisis well. Good leadership at both Federal and State level seems to be making a huge difference. The right wing mantra of 'Big Govt' is always bad and big Govt bureaucracy is always inefficient is being exposed as the empty rhetoric it is. Even some of the leading lights of the GOP are joining in and underlining this fact. Romney's past rubbishing of FEMA is looking, sounding and is feeble, an inadequate ideological response to a real crisis that must be causing many of those tempted by Romney's messages to re-think their position.

How anyone gets a "win" for the GOP out of the above is beyond me!

What I loved is the part of mittens speech in Ohio the other day when he compared cleaning up a dirty football field when he was in high school to cleaning up after Sandy......LOL......desperation time

See the way he explained it is that they were set up in lanes across the field....and each cleaned their lane. So, his rally was taking "his" lane and that should make it all better..........Not sure the people looking at the ruins of their houses in Queens would agree......

You think Obama was on the phone three times in a day to Christie as a campaign ploy? The problem with your assumption is that the phone calls were not revealed by the Obama campaign but by Christie. Ergo, the only basis for your assumption is your own bias.

Maureen Dowd... this is the mind of a leftist. After Reagan was re elected in a landslide in 1984, she said "I have no idea how he got re elected... none of my friends voted for him!" Now, she was so dense she didn't even know how stupid and silly her comment was. This is very typically leftist. They limit themselves to their stupid narrow way of thinking, rarely have any associates that are conservative. They have no idea about the rest of the world and actually make fun of people who think differently from them. Keep in mind, they think they are the most loving and compassionate people on earth. Just watch and listen to liberals/leftists today... listen to how vulgar they are. How insulting they are. How they are the total opposite of what they tell you they are. This is your Dear Leader. He has been trained well.

Dear King Charming....pot call the kettle grimy arse much????

How long will it take to fumigate the white house once o'dumbo and his mistress are kicked out? Jimmy Carter, rest easy bro, you are no longer the worst president. Second worst for sure, but the new king of bad is your buddy o'dingbat.

OH NO MORE RACISM! I love it. What the hell goes through the noggins of leftists? Not much. Too many rocks.
http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=4282622
there ya go. Anyway you want to justify it. I want to see all the Hopey Changey people cry on 7 november. Maybe the brothers will riot! That would be fun. Some good old head crackin' ahead!http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=4282610
This is right up there with the left continuing to say Rush Limbaugh's program is a fad and will go away. Just remember, leftists don't have to use logic. They are emotion-based, so whatever they blabber about they think is true. Just defeat them.
http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=4281215
and they don't do mammograms like your idiotic Dear LEader keeps insisting. Do you know the creep doesn't even have a drivers license? He is SOOOO out of touch. Well, he might be quite the guy in Kenya or Indonesia.. but he's not American.
http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=4280538
Any democrat: moron. How about your vice dear leader biden telling the father of that slain SEAL... "he must have had balls the size of cue balls." This is what they call "sane" amongst democrats. Again, how any MAN can look himself in a mirror and vote for these leftist creeps is beyond me. It's sad enough when emotion-laden females vote for this nonsense.

I'm not a huge Dowd fan either. She's a little bit of a leftish George Will (pompous stylist), but Christie is going out of his way to praise Obama -- and seen through the filter of his Republican Convention speech, one does wonder if he likes the idea of a 1016 Presidential run better than a 2012 Mitt Romney victory.

BTW: I did like the way Dowd covered the Sandusky trial.

Could it possibly be he sees his state in ruin and knows now for the first time that the Federal Gov't and the people of the US are needed to help him repair it? That it is in these times you toss the bullshit aside cause people need your help?

Hey, Lucy, don't be too hard on the poor soul.

He has just managed to string 6 lines together without a single spelling error. Which almost certainly means that he has discovered the spell check function. This is real progress. I'm advised that he has been trying unsuccessfully to locate the spell check for at least 2 years.

Now that he has mastered the spell check function, is there any one brave enough to teach him that sentences are required to have logical content too? It's a 10 year contract. Just think of the sense of reward and job satisfaction you'll enjoy when he finally manages to make sense AND avoid spelling errors after your long hard patient years of diligent teaching ..........

I like Dowd,I think a high percentage of her pieces are spot on...but put that whole "I like her,I don't like her " thing aside for a moment.
Like cloudboy I liked the way she covered Sandusky and love the way she has,and continues to come back to,addressed the Catholic Church over it's reaction to the scandals involving priests.
For that alone, for an Irish Catholic woman to bluntly tell the Church where it has gone off the rails I will always have an appreciation for Dowd
