So then we can put you down for denial of even the possibility, Mike?

Soup of the day on Wednesday, November 7 - angry liberal tears. Sounds yummy!

Yeah Rich,I've thought about it,I've looked at the polls, the different web sites(basically gathered as much information as I could)and you can put me "down for denial of even the possibility "
This isn't going to go the way you would like Rich,so it just might be prudent of you to change that whole soup of the day menu.
What snappy name you give the soup is up to you(soup naming is so beneath me,I like to operate on a higher plane).

Sorry, Mike, but I've been seeing what plane you operate on for a while now, and from that, my impression is nothing is beneath you anymore.

What the polls tell us is that nobody knows what is going to happen on Tuesday. As far back as I've understood what a Presidential election was, I've always had a good gut feeling for who was going to win, whether I liked the answer or not, and it's never been wrong. It doesn't affect where I place my vote.

This election, that certainty isn't there. I know what I want to happen, what I think is going to be best for the country, and I'm perfectly happy to poke libs with sharp sticks along the way, but it is going to be what it is going to be.

If you were as certain on the inside, as you try to appear here, then playing with a hypothetical wouldn't make you nearly as uncomfortable as the one I have posed has obviously made you.

Yes, Mike. If Obama loses, it will be soup of angry liberal tears, and from what I'm seeing on this thread, the chef will be garnishing it with freshly chopped denial.

Which is a worse reaction to a favoured candidate losing an election than illegally stopping a recount why?

Awww shit, now my feelings have been hurt,Rich just doesn't feel the same way about me as he used to.

I can read too Rich....and this election ain't been your shining hour either.

Perhaps we can re-address it after the election, perhaps neither of us will feel it's worth it.
I'm pretty sure you will be okay either way,I damm sure know I will be

As for your ability to "feel" and asses the coming election...I'm not impressed,Electoral College math is all that matters....and even a cursory look at that map leads to the inevitability of the Obama's staying right where they are for the next 4 years.

No matter moon...this is never going to be an issue.....this is just Rich whistling past the graveyard of inevitability....all in the hopes that if he wishes hard enough, magic things will happen for the guy with the special underwear

That's right, Mike. Electoral College math is all that will matter, but until they put in the real numbers, instead of the modeled guesstimates, we ain't gonna know.

Enjoy your map, and skip the piece that takes a maul to the foundation of assumptions that map is built on.

Well yeah, but pissing and moaning about the possibility that somebody else might be pissing and moaning this time next week?
As far as bad conduct after elections go, the Reps seem to have a bit more of a track record than the Dems, put it that way. There was a lot less bitching about the Chimp not winning the fucking election that put him in power than there has been about the Kenyan's alleged non Hawaian birthplace, put it that way.
I mean, refresh my memory: who on the left was bitching that there'd be an armed uprising against the unconstitutional usurper back in 2001? That's all we've heard from the wingnut right for the last four years...

So there hasn't been a lot of blather in here (and all over the liberal dominated media) about how the Kenyan usurper can't possibly the President because he isn't an American citizen, then?
How is that a more graceful reaction to losing an election than the left displayed the last couple of times a Republican won, pray tell?

I'll take your expert word for it, Moon. That seems to me to be the level of discourse where you are most comfortable. No person I have the least respect or regard for, has ever claimed to me that my President was not a citizen. Are there douchebags who make such claims? Yes. See above, for where they fall on my list of cares.

Bottom line, is I'll be voting on my way to work, this Tuesday. I'll be voting against tax increases that won't pass, and against a death penalty ban that might. I may not know until I hit the booth, if I'll be voting for a local candidate I despise, or for his opponent, whom I hold in utter contempt, but know will be a lot easier to get rid of in two years. I'll be voting for Romney, even though I know California will go to Obama.

Enjoy watching tv.

Nope, you're entirely nonpartisan and above all of that schismatic mudslinging stuff:

I do not usually comment on internal foreign politics, but in the case of Romney threatening more economic sabotage by his party if he loses, this begs for one- http://news.yahoo.com/romney-elect-house-gop-wreck-economy-192105183--politics.html

I looked the English version of this up, to insure the translation was correct.

quote:

In what his campaign billed as his "closing argument," Mitt Romney warned Americans that a second term for President Obama would have apocalyptic consequences for the economy in part because his own party would force a debt ceiling disaster.

quote:

Romney said that Obama "promised to be a post-partisan president, but he became the most partisan" and that his bitter relations with the House GOP could threaten the economy. As his chief example, he pointed to a crisis created entirely by his own party's choice -- Republican lawmakers' ongoing threat to reject a debt ceiling increase. Economists warn that a failure to pass such a measure would have immediate and catastrophic consequences for the recovery.

"You know that if the President is re-elected, he will still be unable to work with the people in Congress," Romney said. "He has ignored them, attacked them, blamed them. The debt ceiling will come up again, and shutdown and default will be threatened, chilling the economy."

A presidential candidate who made this sort of threat to destroy his country's economy would be regarded as little better the a traitor in most parts of the word.

And if this is the center right's plan for defeat . . .

No, that isn't a traitorous reaction.

In this hemisphere countries that are not colonial remnants are republics, and monarchists are regarded as either madmen or reactionaries, the normal politician is a republican.

True, but the Republicans (aka the GOP) is the name of one of the two right leaning American political parties, the other bunch being the Democrats.

It isn't a threat, YN. It is a statement of reality. My President believes, and you can Google for him saying it, or watch his answer in the first debate, that Congress is just going to give up and go along with an agenda half my country despises.

If he wins, and tries to force that course, I fucking well expect my Congressman to throw whatever body block he has to.

My President has recently said that he wants people to go vote in act of revenge. It's sad that he would disgrace the office like that, but since that's the gutter he wants to roll in, then I hope all the people who believed in him last time around, and feel like they got fucked, do exactly that.

The United States legislature has not passed a budget for several years, due to political infighting and obstructionism.

Promising to further obstruct the passage of any budget if the election is not to the GOP satisfaction, and in addition to that, to deliberately obstruct the necessary measures to keep the United States government in operation may be a promise, but it is also threatening a deliberate attack on the country, and all the citizens, there is no other way to see it.

Worrying about what the other political party and its supporters might do, when their opposite makes such "promises" . . .

Yes. And reelecting our current President, who has proven himself incompetent to overcome partisanship (despite introducing himself to the country on the promise of doing exactly that), will give us more of the same in his following term.

Don't like the idea? Vote for the man who wants to change it. Oh wait. Nevermind.

You could point a finger at the Republican Congress, but at least you don't insist on calling him "Barry" anymore. He has not used his Veto the same way the Republicans have used the filibuster.

You also can't point to Republican initiatives that would have reduced unemployment, turned the stock market around, addressed our health care issues, or reduced our national debt. I'm all ears. What do you have to say here about Republican solutions?

It will be fun watching this left leaning forum, that's for sure. Not as much fun as the morning after the Giants defeated Green Bay in the playoffs last year... but fun nonetheless.
