He's way more than a comic, he's a political commentator who follows and reviews the news. He also conducts serious interviews with politicians, journalists, scientists, and economists.
He's a libertarian, atheist, liberal leaning, skeptical media figure blessed with the immunity of having his own HBO show -- something that allows him to push the envelope and speak his mind without fear of losing his job. His comedy usually has a lot of bite and he's willing to be proven wrong on the issues.
If Bill Maher were President of the USA:
He'd abolish the drug war.
Reduce the US military budget.
Cut corruption in government.
Put individualist, free thinkers on the Supreme Court.
He'd staff government with qualified, reality based, progressives looking to get results.
He would acknowledge climate change and make environmental protections a top priority.
Religious leaders and followers would hate him and think he's the anti-christ.
