The majority of American conservatives will hunker down and bitch until the primaries for the 2016 nominations.

My concern is for the extremist Timothy McVeigh-wannabes who will convince themselves that violence will be the only solution and might kill a lot of people hoping to initiate an anti-United States revolution.

I just finished reading comments on another website by some extremist Rightist fool who seems to believe that, after President Obama gets re-elected, the U. S. military will mount a coup d'état and install a conservative dictatorship. (By the way, he thought a coup and a subsequent conservative dictatorship was a GOOD idea!).

I do hope that we know on Wednesday, though, instead of dragging it out forever. I spent much of the 2000 chaos working 100 hour weeks in a truck without a radio (or a heater). That might be an improvement over what it will look like in here.

I hope we know the winner by Wednesday, but I would be surprised if this doesn't drag on for a long time, with accusations of voter fraud and improprieties all over the place.

Some may discount the values of brains and hard work, Mari, but I'm a fan, from behind my 8-5 desk, and taking a shower in the morning, instead of desperately needing one when I get home.

A willingness to take crazy individual risks helps too.

The Zimbabweans will still struggle under Mugabe..

The Iranians will still struggle under Ahmadinejad and the Iranian clerics.

The Syrians will continue their struggle for freedom, united..

And elsewhere throughout the world where dictators rule, people are tortured, where poverty and destitution is common, and where people disappear people will continue to struggle, united in a common dream for liberty and justice..

And the noise of the whining, bitching, crying, and blaming from the American right will get that just bit louder because they failed to get rid of a President determined to bring change to the States and prepare it for a new era of peace and prosperity.

And the rest of us will just say 'meh whatever' and move on..

I have been reading some of the posts on the thread that our kinky conservative started, and I looked but did not see, the other side of the coin.

I am more worried about how Republicans/conservatives will re-act if President Obama is re-elected, than the other scenario.

My first thought is, they would be challenging the legitimacy of the votes for about a year.
The Republicans will claim the election was stolen!
I would not be surprised if they DEMAND another election!

I can't be the only great American citizen concerned about the "fall-out" if President Obama is re-elected in 2 days!

The Republican party, if it's close, may challenge. I hope not....it's not in Romney's personality to do that, and if they do I suspect he'll graciously bow out and offer his assistance to the Prez.

Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Beck and others will spend the next 4 years making millions, just like they have for 12 or more bitching about the Democrats.

The rest of us will commiserate over a beer for a week or so and then get back to work and not worry about it all that much and just work that much harder to protect those that matter to us because it'll be as clear as a Tiffany diamond that we won't be able to fix what as of Nov 7th, will finally be irretrievably broken and the rest of the country will be fucked.

It's not so much a question of what the Republicans will do...it's more a matter of what the American people will do. We've already seen the GOP organize into tea parties and demonstrate/politicize through the system to present a case that after 2008 majorities, Democratic socialistic policies needed to be curbed...thus we had 2010 electoral rollback. Obama could very well win Tues and seems likely to do so, but again, this is merely just an indication of preference between him and Romney without being any sort of mandate for policy changes to any significant degree beyond what we've been seeing the last two years. The real tell will be the 2014 election. And the real question is how Democrats will handle Obama losing tomorrow...that is more likely to produce rioting than anything but chances we won't have to see it. If female Clinton runs in 2016, Democrats will be lucky to have another symbolic candidate and historically significant candidate that can capture the White House, but after that, symbolic/historical choices will for the most part be off the table.

You're supposed to wait until the results are in after tomorrow before you start throwing your mantrum, matey.

No mantrum whatever that is. I don't see a huge difference between Romney and Obama...just a slight one of a few degrees. The bigger difference is in their respective inclinations but the reality is that America isn't at a come to Jesus moment and even if Obama wins, he'll still be hamstrung to a large degree as he has been the past two years and won't get much of anything done unless he were to compromise more. As it is, he and Michelle are so doggone rigid about creating a legacy that they don't even let Oprah anywhere near the White House. Obama gets us a few inches closer to the cliff and Romney just gets us a few inches further from it.

The right will cry foul, of course. And continue to do so for the next 4 years.

If Obama isn't given a Congress he can work with, I hope he signs executive orders like there is no tomorrow. I also hope he fires half his cabinet and gets some real progressives into key positions. An economist like Krugman for the Treasury would be nice. And I wonder if Robert Riech would be willing to return to his previous post under Clinton--that of Labor Secretary.

And that's another thing. When the republicans took control of Congress in the midterms, they got rid of the Labor Committee rebranding it the "workforce committee". That let all of know what they think of us workers--we are nothing but a commodity.

it would be nice if they could focus on lies from this election....from their own team, as well, but its an impossibility.

yeah, fat chance. It would be nice, though, and erie isn't kidding that the Kenyan should be less shy about using executive orders to get around fillibustering.
(Johnson had the right approach towards that, but it's a long time since any Democrat had his backbone, sadly. It's a shame nobody had explained to the Kenyan during his first term that a compromise involves concessions from both sides, rather than one getting their way and the other grovelling like a Gorean girl with a brand on her arse...)

I cant disagree with you or Erie on that matter....No Compromise No surrender, No facts should be their motto
