Are you more likely to read a long post or a short post?  Which do you think you are more likely to make?

I thought I'd pose these questions, as the answers, responses and not-me's should be interesting.  Any takers?

I read the short posts mostly ... I'll admit it, I'm lazy ... Sometimes long winded people are just rambling around their point and I get bored with waiting for them to get to it. I'm one of those people, by the way. I usually write long posts that take forever and then I wonder if anyone actually reads what I said.

It all depends on the topic and the person who wrote it.  Long posts tend to lose my attention for the most part.  Not because I have a short attention span, but because I am always multi-tasking when I am reading the boards.

There is a poster who uses a specific font style and I am not able to read it.  The words tend to all run together for me.

As for my posts, it completely depends on the topic at hand whether they are long or short.

depends on the author of said post.   Some I would take the time to read it ... others I wouldn't read it if it was one line.

having said that... if it doesn't flow well, meanig I had to struggle to read an understand what the person is communicating... well i will stop midstream and move on to another

I read the short posts...after 3 or 4 paragraphs, I lose interest.

I read fast and type fast so if it's a subject in which I'm interested size doesn't matter.

Depends on the topic and how well the author has written his/her post, I suppose.  There are some that I simply cannot follow.

I'm going to assume we all get equal credit for literacy and speed.

I prefer short posts to long-post.  I also prefer not to spend my time following someone else's links to websites, and I won't bother trying to read something that was written in a font or color not suitable for my eyes.

I appreciate the responses thus far, as I have marveled at the incredibly long posts and wondered if anyone at all really read something so self-absorbed...

Depends on what it is, and who it's from. As others have said, if it's interesting either in style or topic, sure, I'll spend the time on it, but if it's a bunch of meandering, gobbledygook, no.

Doesn't matter. If the topic is interesting, I can/will read fifty paragraphs. However.... if its re-hashed crap over in the general part of the forums, I won't read it at all. Other than reality TV, there's nothing that I find more booring than mindless, talked-to-death BDSM relationship garbage.

Does that mean or not mean that you used to read Lola's posts beginning to end, pink font and all?

I find that most posts more than three or four paragraphs in length fail to hold my attention, which is why I try to keep my own posts reasonably short.   I'll also skip over most posts that require a translator.

And all this time I thought you liked me because I can tie knots in cherry stems with my tongue.  Whew.. glad that's cleared up!

I'm more apt to read shorter posts and medium length posts, but if a longer post catches my interest enough, I'll read it. I try not to make long posts myself for the most part.

I like posts that are kinda broken up.

For example, if you write 1 paragraph that's 18 lines, I skip it.  However, if you write like me, putting a few spaces in there, it adds more white and makes it easier to follow and read, not to mention separating the various ideas.

Yours,

benji

Speaking of size and cherry stems... umm, nevermind.

Rarely do i find a long post that couldn't have been summed up in three or four sentences.

If it's something personal...someone sharing a story of actual events...i am more apt to read it.  If it is of their opinion...i can get the jist and don't bother with the filler.

Colored fonts and large print i don't even bother with.
