The 1% are liberal democrats.

Name the 1%!

Who are they... let's see the entire list.
What you will find is that while there are many liberal democrats among the 1% the list weighs VERY HEAVILY in favor of Conservative Republicans.
But please since you have made your assertion, prove me wrong.

Do lliberals understand that the govt gets mor money by lowering rates and increasing GDP?

it is called an income tax for a reason, income comes from growth, not from taxes. You cannot grow shit if that income is being wasted by a bloated govt that is growing a 6 times the rate of GDP.

The 1% are liberal democrats.

There were two major deregulatory Acts, and a ton of non-enforcement of what regulations existed, both before and after those, that deregulated the financial industry to its own demise, and wrecked the economy, which, believe or or not, significantly lowers government revenues at the federal, state, and local level.

There were also two major tax breaks, given to the so-called 'job creators' in 2002-03.

We have millions of lost jobs, millions of lost homes, and destruction of $trillions of national wealth to show for it.

Go back to your cartoons and stay out of grown-ups discussions.

You just stated that the Laffer Curve works.

It's been discredited.

"Boehner reiterated his opposition to raising taxes as part of that deal, even on high-income earners, and says he sees the negotiations as a way to overhaul the tax code and the way the federal government pays for entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare."

When is this dumb ass going to stop referring to Social Security and Medicare as welfare programs? I heard failure to reach an agreement could cause another recession. I'm hoping now that President Obama is on his last term and has nothing to lose, he won't hesitate to use an executive order as a last resort. I'm so tired of republicans holding the economy hostage for the 1%.

Maybe I missed something, but Boehner called them entitlement programs. The word welfare was not anywhere in the link that you posted. YOU used the word welfare.

But beyond that - did you think the House was suddenly going to just roll over and play dead because people didn't even care enough to be apathetic about voting? This was about turnout and Republicans couldn't get people to the polls. They said this would happen when the party leaders pushed so hard to have Romney as the candidate. They were right.

Now I also think the deck is stacked against republicans - when the media has stopped even pretending to be neutral, I'm more concerned about how the media is failing to do it's job for the Republic than I am about people not turning out to vote. A recent survey said that the public trusts labor unions more than they trust the news media...that's how far they've fallen.

One day you will stop blaming everyone else and look at yourself......One day

The Laffer Curve has absolutely not been discredited. The underlying concepts are pretty much universally accepted by economists. It's the actual tax rate of income maximization that has been disputed.

The underlying concept is that if you have less money, you spend less money.

slutbiboyforuse -> RE: Boehner still not willing to cooperate (11/10/2012 11:00:53 AM)

tazzy, hi how are you?

logically speaking if the 1% are liberal democrats and you are a liberal democrat that does not automatically make you the 1%. If you had said i am a republican and in the 1%, then i would be wrong, which of course is true, there are but the the greater percentage are liberal democrats who live in the richest most exclusive areas of the country. With the greatest income gap. Take NY, Mass, CA for example.

Thanks for the charming chart, you may notice how GDP and GDI kind of correlate with each other. The is one exemption where GDI goes up even though GDP goes down, Q1 2011, after the GOP took the house.

This chart proves my point well. When GDP goes up, guess what else goes up, GDI. When GDI goes up there is more income to tax. ERGO more revenue for the humoungous bloated government that grows 6 times faster than the economy that supports it.

The 1% are liberal democrats.

By your logic, either
A: Romney (the wealthiest man ever to run for POTUS) is not one of the 1%

or

B: He is a liberal Democrat

See how stupid RW talking points look when you boil them down to their essence?

Here is what happened. The Republicans had 6 years to prepare for this election. They had, as an opponent, one of the most ineffectual presidents of the modern era. The economy is in the shitter. They had a Billion dollars to spend.

They got their ass KICKED by over 100 EV.

What are they doing? Are they looking to see where their mistake was and what they can do differently in 4 years?

FUCK NO. They're whining and spouting "Talking Points", telling people "They're gonna get your guns and take away your Bibles" and making excuses. The last thing that would ever occur to their tiny little minds is that maybe they need to change their approach and let the American electorate vote for a fiscal Conservative who will leave people the hell alone in their own homes and actually allow those states rights that they tout, not a fucking Bible Beater or a flip flopper with no plan.

Got a source to back that claim up?

No. The fact is no tax cut has ever resulted in an increease in revenue. Only right wingers who deny reality are still pushing supply side economics.

entitlement programs, as an economics term, just means money that the government pays to citizens. examples include Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, most Veterans' Administration programs, federal employee and military retirement plans, unemployment compensation, food stamps, and agricultural price support programs.

i'm sorry, if entitlement benefits to citizens need to be reformed, so do the pensions of congress. a lot of them are already millionaires, why do they need more money?

evidence of what the government growing by 6% while the GDP grows at 1? or that more gdp = more gdi= more revenure from income tax?

Congress should not be a career. IMO, Congress critters should not receive anything except that portion paid into SS, Medicare, etc. I look at Congress other than I look at anything else. Public service, as far as Congress goes, should be just that - service - without incentive to remain to long.

Really, what is a Congress Critter worth? For example, if your drain is stopped up who do you call? Your plumber, doctor, electrician, and even perhaps your lawyer are worth more than a Congress critter.

slutbiboyforuse -> RE: Boehner still not willing to cooperate (11/10/2012 1:50:11 PM)

revenure rose under bush and it rose under reagan, and it rose under kennedy, it rose under carter and clinton.

all arguements aside, i think the country could all get along with clinton era tax and spend. spend 20% of gdp and tax 18% of gdp. Let business grow, hire and invest and have confidence our politicians arent going to totally screw us and leave a mess for our kids. When things get back to normal and we have the growth we need to at least break even you tax 20 and spend 18.

RacerJim -> RE: Boehner still not willing to cooperate (11/10/2012 2:32:21 PM)

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) a day or two before the election: "Romney's fantasy that Senate Democrats will work with him to pass his 'severely conservative' agenda is laughable."

Replace "Romney" with "Obama, "Senate Democrats" with "House Republicans", and "'severely conservative'" with "'severely liberal'" and that's what Speaker of the House John Boehner (R) should proclaim loud and clear. Obama has already declared the Constitution null & void so Boehner should now declare the country null & void.
