I can understand the looney left in panic mode over secession. If all the red states secede together, you won't have anyone to pay the bills. If you are lucky though, maybe those Illegal aliens will hire you to haul off their trash.

Amazing how you got that exactly backward......

And typical......

TOMORROW.....

Or at the very least....make every citizen in those romney-redistribution-states take a drug test.......anyone fails......the whole state gets nothing.......

As an extremist-rightist......you should be in total agreement.

Awwww. Boo fucking hoo.

The poor little lib is mad because he's paying more taxes than everyone else.

Sorry, but since the goal of your Dear Leader is to raise everyone's taxes you'll get no sympathy here.

I`m sure you have no idea what I`m talking about....

And the "fiscal cliff" thing was written and passed by j-boner and Paul Ryan(you may have heard of him) and your party`s responsibility and mess to clean up.

Seeing Ryan squirm and use the weaseliest of weasel words.... trying to explain how his name got on that tax-raising instrument that`s at issue ....[sm=rofl.gif]was better than fresh king crab legs w/ butter.

Other than denial.....you cons are great at setting up our shots, like golf tees.

I know exactly what you're talking about. You're crying because your taxes are being redistributed, which is quite hypocritical of you by the way.

Come on... this is exactly what you and your party believe in. The haves should pay higher taxes so the have nots can enjoy a bigger piece of the pie. It's a little disingenuous to be upset about it just because you happen to be the ones having your wealth redistributed.

This is EXACTLY the sort of thing you and your ilk have been saying is such a wonderful thing for a very long time. You should be all warm and fuzzy over it instead of being bitter about it.

Actually, the Southeast gets more in federal spending then it pays in taxes, while New England pays more in taxes then they get back. If anything, the blue states are supporting the red states.

And when this subject comes up, liberals don't panic - they joke about how great it would be if the far right all left and formed their own country! [;)]

We live in a democracy, in case you've forgotten. Majority rule. If your party loses, then you suck it up and try again next time. And if you win then, your opponent needs to step down gracefully and accept that, too.

If the response to losing an election is for the losers to take up arms and forcibly refuse to accept the outcome, that's the end of democracy in this country. Our form of government only works because we've all agreed not to do that kind of thing.

Ron Paul posted a little explanation yesterday. It may be useful to watch to understand the libertarian-constitutional viewpoint about secession.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nhQ31b_dbnM#!

Today secession is seen by the advocates as a way to separate from the federal government, nothing more.

Fellow -> RE: Obamaphobe "secession" & "armed rebellion" movements (11/14/2012 2:40:33 AM)

I would also add it is very likely the conditions will soon come where the secession becomes active issue. For example, the dollar collapse (Ron Paul prediction) will automatically trigger some states attempting to issue their own currencies.

The left's biggest error is in the following -

their mistaken belief that the majority of the American people agree with them

It doesn't take a majority.

Fucking laughable....... You "independents" still dont get it that you have now lost not ONE, but TWO U.S Elections due to the policies that were soundly rejected.

This debate kind of reminds me of David Camerons remarks to a Scottish Nationalist MP.

"Can the Prime minister assure me that impending cuts to the military budget wont affect Royal Air Force bases in my constituency ?"

"If the honourable member gets his wish for independence, he wont have an air force"

Just a point of order here... we live in a republic, not a democracy. We are not simply a "majority rules," or "winner take all" system. The secession kick isn't about losing an election, it's about the perception that the America of the US Constitution is being lost. The America of the US Constitution is something to take up arms and forcibly protect.

Just want to say, I'm not a secessionist. I'm not in favor of secession of any State (though I do believe that States do have the right to secede from the Union).

You are, actually: that's exactly how a republic appoints its representatives. You might not like who your peers are voting into power, but until you stop using elections to appoint delegates to a government full of elected proxies, then you're still a republic.

We are a representative republic. We have democratically elected local representatives, but there can be a disconnect between the popular vote and the electoral college vote for the Executive Branch. That being said, I would prefer our Senators to be chosen by their States, rather than by the Citizens of the State (which was the original system of the US Constitution).

Regardless of who gets elected, some will be happy, some will be mad, and some (perhaps a plurality even) will not care enough to vote.

~FR

Hannity went on to ask how, constitutionally, they have the right to do this — and what the movement wants to do next. Miller said the petition is basically asking the president, “Mother, may I?” It “will accomplish virtually nothing” — “but it will send a clear message that the people of texas want their independence.”

Ultimately, he said, any decision about a state leaving the union must come down to the vote of the state’s people. To that point, Hannity asked whether he’d like to see a referendum on the issue. Whether the goal is to get the issue on the ballot.

“Ideally what we would like to see is the legislature put it to a non-binding referendum,” Miller explained. “So the people of Texas could express their will on this issue. The polling we have done internally in our organization in every county in Texas shows we would carry a majority of Texas, but I think that takes us to the next step here.”

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/texas-nationalist-movement-president-outlines-secession-goals-on-hannity/

Its a temper tantrum. Why else make it "nonbinding"?

The primary stupidity, IMO, of the petitioners and also those who have spoken wistfully of an actual armed "revolution" is their mistaken belief that the majority of the American people agree with them and the majority of the American people (to include all the members of the actice duty United States military) would join them or support them.
