LOL, SC......all the black folk are packing, didn't you crackers pull this one on us once before?

SimplyMichael -> RE: Obamaphobe "secession" & "armed rebellion" movements (11/13/2012 11:43:04 AM)

The main reason this wont happen is most republican states get more in federal money than they pay out. California is the fourth largest economy in the world and after raygun punished the dems by stripping out most military bases, we would do fantastic if we bailed. West virgina? Who the fuck would notice except fans of inbreedinh.

Besided, based on my experience, with right wing, gun owners who talk rebellion, one threat to nuke donut shops and the rebellion would die in its tracks.

The primary stupidity, IMO, of the petitioners and also those who have spoken wistfully of an actual armed "revolution" is their mistaken belief that the majority of the American people agree with them and the majority of the American people (to include all the members of the actice duty United States military) would join them or support them.

The real danger is in that the left assumes that those who do not want as they do will quietly acquiesce. Also is the mistaken belief that no one is willing to actually fight for what they believe. History shows that given sufficient provocation those assumptions are false.

The left's biggest error is in the following -

their mistaken belief that the majority of the American people agree with them

It doesn't take a majority.

So you're saying the left would have been justified in 2004 if they rose up and slaughtered everyone who supported W?

There's no justification beyond what one is willing to fight for. I'm sure King George III did not see any justification to those of his subjects who rebelled.

That's a crock. The minority has to have more cause for a rebellion than an election didn't go their way. The majority has spoken and your side lost. It's time to get over it.

I mean, seriously... the SC ruled that a state can secede but only by mutual agreement, if I remember correctly. Its not going to happen

I don't mean it could happen... Only that a country wide, or local, movement could form and incite violence. And that these dumb ass people need to be watched and if possible made to see the errors of their ways by the same people that inflammed them.

Otherwise I think Democrats and Republican conservatives alike need to call out the Republican leadership and have them set things straight. Or hold them accountable.

Certainly, petitions to secede are ridiculous since they won't be granted, but what most people don't understand is that secession from the federal government is inevideable. The unfunded liabilites are about $50 trillion & it all started when LBJ transferred social security to the general fund & started spending on it. On top of using SS as a piggy bank, they have now borrowed $16 trillion. There is no possible way to fund future liabilities. Even if you took all the money the top 5% have, it wouldn't last but 5 years.

It's inevideable that secession must occur since they refuse to balance the budget and declare bankruptcy or limit the size of the federal government & future entitlements. It's absolutely impossible. It's just a question of how fast will it occur. I predict it will happen within the next 4 years & red state Governors & their legislators will begin making preparations to secede together so they can set up a seperate financial system & rewrite the Constitution to where the feds answer to the states & they have no law making ability or taxing ability.

I was actually scratching my head trying to figure out what Latin word "inevideable" was.....and kicking my aging self for forgetting this bedrock of our government.Surely this was a word or phrase grounded in some important Supreme Court decision...and yet my once nimble mind couldn't come up with the answer.
Than I noticed who the poster was(yes I sometimes read a post without first noticing the author,it helps me keep an open mind)
Than I realized my confusion was inevitable ...and that my mind was working fine [:)]

I would be open to negotiations with Mexico to sell back Arizona if they can't pony up the price, and New Mexico and Texas as well.

Fuck em, lets just part em out.

If there were a [civil] war the military would not side with Obama after the fiasco with our ambassador and leaving the American contingent hanging. The military has a code of conduct and support their own when in harms way. They look with contempt upon individuals or agencies who sit on their hands while good men take action and die and later make excuses for ineptness or political expediencies.

The assumption that the entire military would choose one side is incorrect. History shows us that in case of civil war, individual choices get made.

There is a need for decentralization, not necessarily secession. Do majority agree or not is irrelevant. The majority does not understand what is going on. The federal government has grown too big, it is too corrupt, and it has separated itself from the population at large, it has lost trust (look at the Congress approval rating) and it does not do what it is supposed to do. In many instances it represents multinational corporations (foreign) interest. Look at the wars and military budget it is running. In what way have or will Americans benefit from these? Obama is largely irrelevant; it could be Romney, anybody a system insider. Armed rebellion is not necessary, unless there will be armed invasion by the federal government. I do not see how and why it would happen: it would solve nothing. To make the issue into Obama hating, minority hating, or whatever unrelated to the problem is unfair evil tactics to suppress the democratic real debate.

Salinedion -> RE: Obamaphobe "secession" & "armed rebellion" movements (11/13/2012 1:03:17 PM)

Staten Island used to threaten to secede from NYC, but the rest of the city would just laugh at them. I mean more than usual.

Whining is for losers.

Oh, wait.......

Yachtie -> RE: Obamaphobe "secession" & "armed rebellion" movements (11/13/2012 1:06:31 PM)

LMAO... it's getting thick....

A White House petition gathering force calls for citizenship to be stripped and exile for anyone who signs a petition in favor of a state's secession.

"Mr. President, please sign an executive order such that each American citizen who signed a petition from any state to secede from the USA shall have their citizenship stripped and be peacefully deported," the full petition reads.

Hmmm.... Deported where?

One hopes Guantanemo. Or abu Grahib.

Lucylastic -> RE: Obamaphobe "secession" & "armed rebellion" movements (11/13/2012 1:16:53 PM)

The real danger is in that the right assumes that those who do not want as they do, will kill, and or riot if they dont get their own way. Also is the mistaken belief that no one is willing to actually fight for what they believe. History shows that given sufficient provocation those assumptions are false.

The rights biggest error is the following - their mistaken belief in that the majority of the American people agree with them

Secessionists are the new birthers.

They're actually the old birthers.

There's quite a big overlap between the two groups, It isn't quite a clean single circle on a venn diagram, but it isn't too far off.
