Status: offline 		I've found that whenever I ask a sub why his last relationship ended, more times than not, he will answer "My Mistress moved away". The reasons for moving include job change or the need to take care of sickly parents. Only one or two men actually said the reason for not being with their previous Mistress was due to a break-up.

What's up with all the moving? Where's everyone going? I just can't believe that such a huge percentage of break-ups are due to moving. It goes against the law of averages.

My next question is - why is it such a bad thing to admit that you broke up with your dominant girlfriend? People break up all the time for all sorts of reasons. No shame in it. It's just life.

It's 3 a.m and I'm still up and thinking too much. LOL

But, I'd be curious to know what other people's experience is with this supposed phenomenon in the BDSM world.

Status: offline 		If I had to guess, I'd say that it was one of these things:

- There never was a Mistress, they are overstating their experience. Now if you were interested in him, you might wonder why you never bumped into her at community events or worse - you might want to speak to her for 'references'. They make up a Mistress because they think if they are more experienced they are more desirable. Or they have been single for a long time and they are embarrassed.
- They know damn well the break up was something they did (like cheating) and don't want any chance of you figuring out they were the bad guy
- The relationship ended for normal reasons, but they are worried that you will assume since one dominant didn't want to be in a relationship with them anymore, you won't either - this allows them to act like they were really marvelous and desirable in every way, it was just life that interfered.

It is an overused excuse, but they all probably think they are being very clever in thinking it up. They won't talk much to other subs so won't realise everyone is saying it.

With the exception of very young adults going to university, I've never personally known a couple who broke up because someone needed to move. Either they go together, or don't go, or live away on weekdays, or live somewhere half-way etc etc. If the relationship was great, you'd fight for it.

Most of my women friends who needed to take care of elderly parents would move the parent closer to them. Since the caretaker usually has a life - husband, kids, grandkids, job, etc. - it doesn't make sense for her to pick up stakes and move to the elderly parent, does it?

Because those "relationships" never existed in the first place. 99.9% of what's written about on this is site is complete and utter horse shit. It never happens in real life.
