Ooo - titles of books that have both?

I have a folder on my Kindle called "Dragons." My current fav is the Temeraire series of novels by Naomi Novik.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Peter Jackson, who is best known for directing the Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong, has optioned the rights to the series. Jackson added that Temeraire "is a terrific meld of two genres that I particularly love — fantasy and historical epic. I can't wait to see Napoleonic battles fought with a squadron of dragons. That's what I go to the movies for."[5]

I also have Robin Hobb's The Realm of the Elderlings. Dragons play the biggest role in The Rain Wilds Chronicles.

I have several Margaret Weis books in my To Be Read list but started Dragons of Autumn Twilight and couldn't get into it.

I reread some of the Pern books recently and noted with sadness that I'd enjoyed them more as a teenager. Ditto with Guardians of the Flame.

Good ones

I'm a book snob that way.

I've gone to bed with worn out encyclopedias before.
I'm such a low class slut! [:(]

I am corrupting Mom by getting Thea Devine for her to read. She says its trashy! At least she is not asking me for Fifty Shade of Grey...

I'd love to say something sophisticated like, "Classical philosophy texts in their original language." To my undying shame though, I'm going to have to go with "Something with either spaceships or dragons in it. Bonus points for both."

Why not have the best of all in one? The Space Dragons' Critique of Pure Reason...

I love reading, but books disappoint me more often than not. If I had to lump my favorite books all in one genre it would be "surreal introspective fantasy", which covers most of what I've loved from Gormenghast down to Ionesco plays.

Yesterday at the Goodwill I picked up a book called Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution by Michael J. Behe. I'm looking forward to reading it. It sounds intriguing.

I love to read! I like to read threads about reading, haha.

Be careful of books from Goodwill etc, check for bed bugs in the spines, they can live in books [:o]

Thankfully I don't worry about not buying stuff just because it might have bedbugs or germs or ants or swine flu. Just sounds like a frightful way to live.

Yeah real 'frightful' to be aware of the possibility of, and giving things a good checking over for creepy things possibly hiding in old things etc.

I have a wide range of favorite types of books, ranging from Shakespeare and Melville to David Drake. I am just as happy with the classics of literature as I am with sci fi, thrillers and murder mysteries.

Of course I enjoyed Robert Asprin's work as well.

theshytype -> RE: What kind of books do you like reading? (1/3/2013 8:48:54 PM)

I'll read anything as long as its well-written.
I can't finish an overly-flowery book filled with incessant adjectives.
And I have yet to finish a Shakespeare - I've tried several.

Nelee -> RE: What kind of books do you like reading? (1/4/2013 6:26:26 AM)

I like memoirs of interesting situations, and high fantasy. My dream is to write high fantasy that involves more of the people I can identify with, hehe. But I need to practice writing more and read even more than that.
I also love sci-fi, but I've been at a loss of good authors lately.

LizDeluxe -> RE: What kind of books do you like reading? (1/4/2013 7:09:51 AM)

I enjoy biographies and legal thrillers like John Grisham novels.

Historical battles with a touch of fiction for me! Anything by Bernard Cornwell is instantly awesome.

I personally am a fan of mysteries and supernatural genres.

I personally am a fan of rubber mats in cars and external mud flaps.

I am a librarian and a voracious reader so I love reading many kinds of books. My most recent craze, however, has been gothic noir. I can't get enough of it!

Hi, my name is ydd, and I am a book whore. I freely admit that there isn't much I won't read.

This.  I read e-books before e-books were cool.  Gotta love Baen.
