As good as it sounds (just me) I would destroy it . 1 it would give you peace of mind no one else has it and it would not be around to ofend your Master.
My girl has over a hundred pictures her last Master took of her and I love them all but I am one of the few who know it is her as her face is never seen .
So it bothers you that much just get rid of it .

oh wow thats a hard one.

I would want it, no if, ands, or buts, about it I would want it. But if the shoe was on the other foot, I woudl probably be a bit of a hypocrite. Feel a bit of jealousy, a constant reminder there was someone else. But thats also immature.

That is your past, a beautiful part of it. I would ask out of respect but you should keep it. THe past is the past, and considering what i have read about you and masters relationship, he is mature enough, he will know that and respect it is important to you. ANd besides!!!! How many times in life, do you get a mosiac made by a past lover???

I don't think your ex should sell it. Has he sold other works of you?

I recommend he give it to you and if your Master is uncomfortable with it, wrap it up and stick it in the attic.

I would personally not have a problem with art of my current done by their ex.

I guess I'm a bit more immersed in the art world than the relationship world so I'm seeing this problem differently than most. It sounds like this thing might truly be considered a piece of art. If that is so then I would find it wrong to destroy it over such concerns. More, I would assess it as you modelled for him and the art is his to do with as he pleases. That would be true with or without a model release I'm pretty sure if it wasn't personally identifiable. So my sense of right & wrong here would dictate he do with it as he wills and you can offer to buy it from him if you see fit.

I agree with you Jeff: destroying it seems wrong. He spent a lot of time and effort making this and destroying it simply because I know who it is feels very wrong to me. I'm also very flattered that he thinks enough of me to be concerned about how I feel about it.

That was the first piece he did in that medium and I was his guinea pig, so I think we both feel that it also represents a little more than just a piece he did. He wasn't even sure it would work when he came up with the idea.

Master said he is good no matter what I decide. It's not something that I want displayed in my house, simply because it is me. Truly, I can imagine what happens the first time someone mentions the dimples above the butt cheeks...

The purchaser does not know who the model is, hasn't asked and R~ isn't telling. I'm okay with it being sold, but I am going to ask if he will donate the proceeds to a charity. (He's on the board of directors of a charity that promotes art for inner city children)

I'll talk to R~ later today and we'll see what he says.

Ok... take the fact that this was created by your ex out of the equation. If you were a model and an artist created this piece for you, would it be an issue if you had it in your home?

Yes because it's me naked. I'm not really comfortable with family and friends seeing it and I doubt it would stay secret.

Okay, we have an agreement. He's going to sell the piece and donate half to his charity and half to the charity that I work with.

Apparently, the only person that is not happy with the situation is his wife. She wanted it gone, but is unhappy that he let me have a say in what happened to it and the proceeds.

I honestly can't blame her. I have a jealous streak. I mean, even if it seems weak and not right, I could see where she is coming from. Its a little threatening and I think most women would feel a tinge of the green eyed monster. Wrong or right, its very common.

When a writer or a painter has put his soul into a bit of work, then it can feel quite strange when that work is 'sent out into the world', as it is when it's published, sold or displayed. So, maybe this is a standard feeling for the model as well as the artist who depicted her?
