Not sure if this belongs here, perhaps it's an indictment of our education system, perhaps not .
Perhaps it's a statement of the lousy economy, but I don't really expect anyone to buy that....lol
In my opinion all it really is,all it says,is that this one young girl takes stupidity to new levels.
Anyway here's the link, decide for yourselves.

Talk about not raising your children right.

This story was slightly amusing until I saw this: http://starcasm.net/archives/185533

Seems like a case of seriously neglected mental illness.

This one is even "more smarter."

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3187818&page=1#.UMQq06xaGgU

"After collecting thousands of dollars, Johnston said they hit the mall to get highlights at a high-end salon. They were later arrested and charged with felony theft."

What's the use of robbing a bank if you can't get your highlights done afterwards?

tazzygirl -> RE: Teen Chick robs bank (12/8/2012 10:32:34 PM)

~FR

Whats the use of giving these two attention whores more attention?

Edwynn -> RE: Teen Chick robs bank (12/8/2012 10:52:34 PM)

I can't disagree, but the media need something to distract attention from real issues.

How many people know that the future SEC chief is in consideration now?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Doing a fabulous job, they are.

tazzygirl -> RE: Teen Chick robs bank (12/8/2012 11:35:57 PM)

Consideration?

Thought Obama named Elisse Walter and that she did not need confirmation.

http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-11-27/elisse-walter-steps-out-of-schapiro-shadow-into-sec-chairmanship

Edwynn -> RE: Teen Chick robs bank (12/9/2012 3:52:36 AM)

Made you google.

Walter is considered by many to be a temporary replacement.

The fact that Mary Miller was even seriously considered tells us that the financial industry remains holding too much sway over every administration.

In any case, Neil Barofsky or Sheila Bair would be much better choices, when the time comes.

Which is why neither are likely.

And none of the above has anything to do with what is simply a story about the insipid vapidness of one idiotic, poorly raised teenage girl.
And this isn't a mainstream media story....it is a social media story, the young idiot wrote ,and sadly for her, stars in her own silly story.
This was one reason I hesitated to put it in P and R....the knee jerk reaction to jump to bigger issues....in the end though I figured it would get lost next to all the cute cat videos and the dogs playing with horses that populate general topic(the natural home for this story).
Of course in the end ,and due to the fact that I like it down here,I decided to go with P and R and dressed it up by mentioning our failing educational system(what does that have to do with the failure to "raise" our children)or the declining economic issue(what does that have to do with it,she didn't rob the car nor the bank due to a lack of rent money)....just one girl proving the unfathomable depths of stupidity young ones are capable of mining lest they get raised to respect some boundaries.

tazzygirl -> RE: Teen Chick robs bank (12/9/2012 9:56:08 AM)

As I said.... two attention whores who were raised better... and lost their brains somewhere along the way.

slvemike4u -> RE: Teen Chick robs bank (12/9/2012 12:38:29 PM)

Tazzy check your mail box...it's just a rant, but check it all the same...lol

Just read that. God, how grim. It may be a bit of a Tory streak in me, but I can't help experiencing a strong hunch that a decent father figure, particularly, is somehow *seriously* lacking in this girl's life.

It pretty clearly isn't a simple story about insipid vapidness, to me.

That's an odd take on it, to me. Isn't the standard knee jerk reaction to trot out one's usual prejudices *without* making the effort to deal with the bigger issues? In fact that's pretty much the definition of 'knee jerk reaction', isn't it?

I disagree,it most certainly is about insipid vapidness,at lease for me it is [:)]
Where "knee jerk reaction" comes into it is,again for me,where liberals blame the poor education system(thereby justifying more funds) and where conservatives claim that this is just another example of the break down in the traditional family unit(thereby denying that there is any issue with a failing school system)
To me it's just about one very poorly raised child who desperately needed some actual adult supervision during her formative years.

Well, I freely admit I was a twat at age 19. I thought and did lots of stupid, screwed up things. This girl, though, was 19, and had been diagnosed HIV positive a year before - as well as having given birth to a kid, which was subsequently taken off her.

Nup. Fucked up - that fits. 'Vapid' and 'insipid', though, don't cut it. Those words imply 'empty' - she's lots of things, but she's not that.

tazzygirl -> RE: Teen Chick robs bank (12/9/2012 5:10:46 PM)

Sabata ended the video by saying she did it because she was a “victim of the government,” which “stole my baby.”

Sabata lost custody of her son in September 2011.

Sabata has a life-threatening disease and during her pregnancy stopped taking medication that might have prevented her from passing the disease to her baby, according to an affidavit of support for temporary custody written by Tereasa Koenig of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

The affidavit says Sabata has been hospitalized multiple times for mental health issues and diagnosed with schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder and suicidal tendencies.

stellauk -> RE: Teen Chick robs bank (12/9/2012 5:23:24 PM)

I think she's pretty smart, not stupid at all... I was pretty much 'out there' on the fringes at 19, but I don't think I could have pulled off a bank robbery like that.

But I'm making that statement through trying to stand in her shoes and see things the way she might have done.

The morality of it is all screwed up though, and there's at least a dozen better alternatives to make her point. I'm pretty sure that some of us have felt or thought along similar lines at some point in our lives, but common sense prevailed and we didn't follow through.

Was it an incredibly stupid thing to do? Yes, of course it was. She compounded the stupidity by posting it on Youtube. But she doesn't strike me as someone who is that stupid as a person. Just misguided.

tazzygirl -> RE: Teen Chick robs bank (12/9/2012 5:25:05 PM)

She struck me as someone who wants to take absolutely no responsibility for her actions. Its always someone else's fault.

Exactly... she was playing the victim, that's what's so wrong about it and why she's so misguided. I did actually point out the morality of it was all screwed.

tazzygirl -> RE: Teen Chick robs bank (12/9/2012 5:29:57 PM)

Its become the epidemic of the younger generations.
