Gun mag prices have doubled and many places are sold.oit.

Moonhead -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 12:13:04 PM)

Nice to know that someone's done well out of that beastliness last week.
Wasn't there a run on guns after the Kenyan was re-elected as well?

Fellow -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 1:31:26 PM)

It is certainly time to buy a gun(s) and ammunition. Obama administration is determined to launch an effort to severely restrict public self-defense ability.
No government wants citizens with guns, the like to rule over sheeple.

OsideGirl -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 1:34:00 PM)

California already has restrictions on magazine sizes, so it has no impact here.

mnottertail -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 1:36:13 PM)

What sort of horseshit is that?  Severely restrict self-defense ability?  NOBODY has successfully defended himself from cops, you might get two, or even six, but while you are sleeping, they are still on the job, they got flash bangs and toys you can't have.

Self defense at home?  If you need 30 bullets to hit somebody who at most is going to be 16 feet from you across the palatial bedroom, you should be snuffed out as a public menace in any fucking case.

Notion like that is just entirely fuckin absurd.

When I bought my Makarov, someone said, "But, it only holds 8 rounds". (The legal limit in CA is 10 rounds)

My response was "If I can't hit an intruder with the first 8, the extra 2 aren't going to improve my aim."

Moonhead -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 2:38:03 PM)

Makarovs are a good handgun, then? I was always told* that Russian automatics aren't very reliable.

*(Admittedly, they can tell me almost anything and I'm unlikely to smell a rat until I cross reference stuff I've heard)

crazyml -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 2:44:24 PM)

It's a semi auto. Pretty famous for its reliability.

jlf1961 -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 2:45:24 PM)

My favorite hand gun in my collection is my 1911 colt, 7 rounds.

Unless I am hunting wild pigs or target shooting, the max cap mag I use is five rounds.

But in case of a rampaging horde of zombies I want a minigun with a 10000 round belt.

Moonhead -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 2:45:54 PM)

Cool. I should have known that Ian Flemming was full of shit, really...

Hmm... I would expect most western governments to be worries mostly about these things called <finger quotes>Elections<\finger quotes>.

I don't know if you're familiar with the concept... it's fucking nifty though, and the hella awesome thing is that there is actually no need for an armed uprising in order to change the government, you just toodle down to a "voting booth" and have your say.

It is fucking amazingsauce.

The Makarovs are very reliable, accurate and easy to maintain. (Mine is Bulgarian) My friend (a Marine Corps fire arms instructor) says that they were designed to be kicked down a muddy street, then picked up and used by a drunken farmer.

I've put 1200 rounds through it since June and have not had a single misfire or jam.

SimplyMichael -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 5:00:33 PM)

The Makarov uses a german developed round that is less powerful than a 9x19 but more powerful than .380 kurtz. The Russians call it 9mm makarov. Its a great gun, no weak parts, good mag., just a bit heavy.

Yup, 9mmX18. It's similar to the Walther PPK. I have long fingers but a narrow, short palm, so the Makarov fits my hand perfectly. It's got a kick like a mule, but is heavy enough where it comes straight back into your hand, rather than kicking upwards.

Every communist country had their own version. I've heard the Russian, Bulgarian and East German versions were the best. The Czech version is a little less and the Polish version is the worst. The Chinese version is highly collectible.

Oh ffs.......What is it with you people.

E-L-E-C-T-I-O-N-S.............

SimplyMichael -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 5:18:30 PM)

The Czechs didnt make any of the russian designs, no sks, no ak, no tokerev.

The chinese ones cant be imported cause of reagan or clinton?

East germans are nice but the bulgarian ones a just as good.

The polish ones were made at RADOM so i cant imagine they were bad but i dont know.

CZ82 is their version. Slightly different, but similar..

SimplyMichael -> RE: Mag prices (12/19/2012 5:35:42 PM)

Similar to you but its a completely different gun.

All those countries makarov parts will interchange. CZ83 is a very different gun. Czechs even tried to.have a different rifle caliber than the Rusians, 7.62x45, great round, best postwar round to this day.

Yeah, I was looking for a reliable, home defense gun that fit my hand. I stopped looking at the CZ82 when I was told that it wasn't as reliable.
