poise -> Am I Just Freaky? (12/28/2012 5:33:17 PM)

Now that I have your attention......[:)]

As I was meticulously washing dishes this evening, it occurred to me that, at a mere 99 cents for
a small bottle of top quality dish soap, I could well afford to buy 5 a day, and still have money to spare!
Of course, I would never need to use 5 a day, and I usually buy no more than 2 a week, but
the point is, even if I had 50 bottles under the sink, why oh why, when the bottle is half empty, do
I automatically unscrew the cap and water it down to extend it's use?

Do any of you have really quirky and unnecessary habits, or am I to suffer being freaky all alone? [:(]

Do you separate your double ply toilet paper also? [:D]

Poise...freak hummmmm

As for weirdness I actually flatten toothpaste from the bottom & insist it stays like that to avoid waste...yet buy it in bulk when tubes are $1

The Man absolutely hates it when I do that. His grandmother, when he was a kid, would take the bottles out of the garbage and add water and then put it back on the shelf to use. Didn't matter if they were totally washed out either. He throws them in the garbage when there's still a half inch left. I take them out, add a little water so you can get it all out, finish using them and then put them in the recycling bin where they belong.

Oh no...I never skimp on personal hygiene! [:-]
Which is kind of why this habit befuddles me. I don't water down my shampoo or anything
really expensive, which would make more sense if it's a save a penny kind of thing.

From the other responses though, it doesn't appear as though I'm the only freak here. Whew!

Nope not the only freak here but you still win for freakiest tri-cycle!

I use these face scrubbie things, and cut them in half before using; it's like two boxes for the price of one.

Face scrubbies you say? Please tell me more?

I think they're made by Ponds... hold them under the faucet a sec and they bubble up lol, then give the ol' kisser a quick cleaning, then a bit of moisterizer. I need all the help I can get [:D]

ARIES83 -> RE: Am I Just Freaky? (12/28/2012 7:27:17 PM)

I do the same thing poise.

Aylee -> RE: Am I Just Freaky? (12/28/2012 7:37:31 PM)

I add water to my conditioner when it is pretty much gone so that I can get it ALL out.

If I use bottled BBQ sauce I add water to get the last of it out.

I have a special spatula for getting ALL of the peanut butter or mayo out of the jar.

You are not alone. I do the same thing.....and run the top under the hot water for good measure. I also slosh water around in the laundry soap jug til it runs suds free.

There are actually a lot of things that I try to squeeze every bit of possible usable good out of.

I think it comes from growing up dirt poor and being a broke, young, single mother.

Gosh. I feel so...so...not alone!!! Thanks for sharing your freaky things with me.

DomMeinCT -> RE: Am I Just Freaky? (12/28/2012 7:41:21 PM)

I use every drop and/or scrap of everything.

Even throw a couple of tablespoons of water into pasta sauce jars to get out everything.

Chicken and turkey carcasses get simmered down for stock.

Old/expired baking soda from the fridge gets used to scrub the sinks.

LaTigresse -> RE: Am I Just Freaky? (12/28/2012 7:42:33 PM)

Sometimes, I even cut open tubes (like hand creme and sun screen) to use every last bit. Sad I know.

If somebody says they turn their condoms inside out and rinse them to reuse, I'm outta here.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Am I Just Freaky? (12/28/2012 7:46:54 PM)

My dad waters down the soap in the bathroom. I hate it. I feel its virtually innefective watered down like that so I buy my own bottle of soap.

He also re uses platic bottles like the old empty lysterine bottles as hot water bottles and microwaves them. Which frankly I doubt is safe.

You might buy him a hot water kettle.  That would be safer I would think.  He could heat the water and then transfer it to his plastic bottle.  Personally I just use hot tap water in a hot water bottle (yeah, they make those.)

You could also make him a rice/cracked corn bag.  Tube socks work great, or you could use some soft fabric to make a tube.  Fill with rice or cracked corn.  Sew the end shut.  Microwave for about a minute.  Really good for necks.  And re-usable.
